Research And Development Manager

Role Purpose

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the sealant product portfolio relevant to construction, automotive, solar & electronics, OEMs, Government institutions etc.
• Lead the development of new sealant products based on business needs, market demand, and technological advancements.
• Innovate new concepts, products, and solutions by working with various business units across globe
• Collaborate with external labs and research institutions for joint development
• Adhere to existing ISO systems and bring in new systems for process improvement

Key Responsibilities

Product & Application Development

• Develop and modify sealant formulations based on business needs, customer requirements, and application demands.
• Drive adoption of new and evolving techniques, chemistries, and application areas, supported by ongoing research, innovation, and best work practices.
• Conduct lab trials, validation studies, and performance evaluations across multiple product categories.
• Collaborate closely with a dedicated Technical Services team to jointly develop, optimize, and validate application-specific solutions.
• Troubleshoot formulation, application, and process-related issues, providing effective technical solutions.
• Conduct product demonstrations and support customer trials, in coordination with Technical Services.
• Gather market and field feedback through Technical Services/Marketing and translate it into actionable inputs for product improvement and new development.

Operational Efficiency & Improving Productivity

• Transfer new technologies, products and manufacturing process
• Collaborate with QC, Production, Packaging, Purchase, and Marketing teams for smooth execution of projects.
• Coordinate with Operations for various deliverables like process enhancement, SOP, process upscaling etc.
• Identifying Certification and approvals of various sealant categories across various applications area.
• Improve product stability, shelf life, and consistency through better formulation and handling practices.

Quality, Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain proper documentation of formulations, trials, and development records.
• Adhering to the Product Lifecycle Management system
• Ensure compliance with internal quality and safety standards
• Follow ISO systems and established R&D processes.

People Management and Skill Development

• Market connects by visiting various B2B/ B2C customers to understand their requirements and application challenges and provide new solutions
• Monitor team metrics and objectives ensuring meeting of goals
• Contribute to building technical capability in new chemistries and applications.
• Identify the training needs for self and team members
