Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with 7+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and IBM mainframe technologies, with experience across the full software development lifecycle. Exposure to modernizing mainframe applications into microservices-based architectures is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and related IBM mainframe technologies.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code with a strong focus on performance and reliability.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Provide production support by troubleshooting application issues and resolving incidents within SLA timelines.
• Serve as a backup resource for handling production support calls and critical application issues.
• Collaborate with Service Delivery and Infrastructure teams to diagnose and resolve underlying system issues and improve application performance.
• Ensure applications comply with architecture standards, security policies, and risk management guidelines.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, and defect resolution to ensure high-quality software with minimal production issues.
• Contribute to application modernization initiatives, including reengineering legacy mainframe applications into microservices-based architectures.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design documents, and operational procedures.
• Communicate project status, risks, and technical updates to stakeholders and management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in mainframe application development and support.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• COBOL
• CICS
• VSAM
• JCL
• Batch Processing
• TSO/ISPF
• OS/MVS and MVS Utilities
• Experience in application design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and implement permanent solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in modernizing legacy mainframe applications to microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, or cloud-native technologies.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems such as Git.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an advantage.
• Knowledge of banking, financial services, or liquidity management systems is a plus.
