Quality In-Charge oversees an organization's quality standards, ensuring products and processes meet compliance, safety, and customer expectations. Core duties include developing quality control procedures, inspecting final outputs, leading inspection teams, managing supplier compliance, and driving continuous improvement to minimize waste and defects.A Quality In-Charge (or Quality Manager) balances several key operational and strategic duties across the production cycle:1. Quality Standards & ComplianceEstablish Procedures: Develop, implement, and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and product specifications aligned with quality frameworks like ISO.Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all manufacturing and product development procedures satisfy legal obligations, as well as health and safety guidelines.Supplier Monitoring: Set strict quality requirements for raw materials and component suppliers, ensuring incoming materials pass evaluation before entering production.2. Inspections & Quality ControlProcess Oversight: Track products throughout the manufacturing or development lifecycle to guarantee that processes are executed correctly.Approve/Reject Outputs: Evaluate final products against predefined requirements, approving compliant goods and halting or rejecting defective ones.Defect Analysis: Investigate the root causes of production issues, scrap, and rework to prevent them from happening again.3. Team Leadership & TrainingManage Staff: Supervise and guide Quality Control (QC) inspectors, technicians, and production line staff.Training: Develop training programs to teach operators and inspection staff the latest quality assessment methods and standards.4. Reporting & Continuous ImprovementData Analysis: Collect quality metrics, perform statistical analysis, and use them to identify anomalies or trends.Executive Reporting: Prepare detailed performance reports and dashboards to present to senior management, connecting quality KPIs to financial outcomes.Customer Advocacy: Monitor customer feedback and warranty claims, using this data to push for design or procedural improvements.
