Phd student

This is a full-time, on-site PhD position at SRMIST, Chennai, in the area of Nanophotonics, Nonlinear Optics, and Laser Physics.

The selected candidate will work in a well-equipped Nanophotonics Laboratory, which includes:

• 532 nm Nd:YAG pulsed laser system
• Complete Z-scan setup for nonlinear optical characterization
• Facilities for studying laser–material interaction and optical limiting

The PhD student will:

• Conduct research in Nano photonics and nonlinear optics
• Study optical properties of advanced materials such as 2D materials ,Metal Oxides, MOFs, Perovskites phase change materials
• Perform Z-scan experiments to analyze nonlinear absorption and refraction
• Design experiments, simulations, and analyze data
• Publish research papers and present at conferences
• Collaborate on funded research projects
• Assist in mentoring students

• Master’s degree in Physics, Material Science ,Photonics, Nanotechnology, or related field
• Strong basics in optics, lasers, and material science (MUST)
• Hands-on or theoretical knowledge of nonlinear optics
• Experience with tools like MATLAB or COMSOL (Optional)
• Good academic writing and presentation skills
• NET/GATE qualified candidates (Optional)
• Prior research/publications are an advantage
