Key Responsibilities
Availability Management
- Define and manage Availability Management processes
- Ensure SAP/other systems meet agreed availability and reliability SLAs.
- Analyze availability trends, outages, and recurring failures.
- Identify single points of failure (SPOFs) across SAP and integrated systems.
- Drive improvements to reduce downtime and improve service resilience.
- Support Major Incident and Problem Management with availability insights.
- Own and manage Capacity Management for SAP applications and infrastructure.
- Forecast future capacity needs based on business growth, SAP roadmaps, and usage trends.
- Monitor SAP system performance, utilization, and throughput.
- Ensure optimal utilization of compute, memory, storage, and network resources.
- Coordinate with SAP BASIS and infrastructure teams to address capacity constraints.
- Support SAP upgrades, migrations, and peak business events (e.g., month-end, year-end).
- Lead IT Service Continuity Management for SAP services.
- Define and maintain SAP IT Service Continuity Plans (ITSC Plans).
- Ensure alignment with Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Disaster Recovery (DR).
- Conduct and manage DR strategy design, testing, and simulations.
- Ensure RTO and RPO requirements are met for critical SAP systems.
- Maintain readiness for SAP service recovery during major disruptions.
- Establish governance frameworks for availability, capacity, and continuity.
- Ensure compliance with audit & regulatory requirements (as applicable).
- Maintain documentation, policies, and evidence for audits.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to SAP service resilience.
- Track SLA & KPIs including:
- Service availability and uptime
- Capacity utilization and headroom
- RTO / RPO compliance
- Provide regular reports and dashboards to stakeholders.
- Present service health and risk assessments to leadership.
- Work closely with:
- Incident & Major Incident Management
- Problem Management (root cause prevention)
- Change & Release Management (risk assessment)
- Provide input into CAB and release readiness reviews.
- Ensure availability, capacity, and continuity risks are considered in changes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance SAP service resilience.
- Identify automation and monitoring improvements.
- Support proactive monitoring and predictive capacity planning.
- Contribute to service design improvements for new SAP services.
- Use ITSM tools such as ServiceNow / Remedy / Jira Service Management.
- Use performance and capacity monitoring tools.
- Maintain documentation and continuity plans in centralized repositories.
Mandatory
- 6+ years of experience in ITSM Availability, Capacity, and ITSCM roles.
- Deep understanding of ITIL Service Design and Service Operations.
- Strong analytical and risk management skills.
- Experience working in global SAP delivery environments.
- ITIL v3 / ITIL 4 certification
- SAP BASIS or SAP Technical background.
- Experience with cloud-based SAP landscapes.
- Exposure to regulated industries.
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA transformations.
