Job Description
Job Title: Merchandising Manager – Flipkart Best Price
Location: Multiple Locations, Uttar Pradesh (UP)
Experience: 8–10 Years in FMCG Sector
Reports To: Store Manager / Regional Merchandising Head
Role Objective
The Merchandising Manager will oversee end-to-end merchandising, pricing, and operational efficiency for both Food and Non-Food categories. This role is responsible for managing over 6,500 SKUs, ensuring optimal stock availability, driving profitability through margin management, and maintaining high standards of store operations and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Merchandising & Inventory Management
- Category Oversight: Manage a diverse portfolio including Electronics, IT, Furniture, Apparels, Home Essentials, FMCG (Food & Non-Food), and Staples.
- Availability: Monitor critical KPIs such as shelf availability for Top 1000 items and ensure high vendor service levels.
- Shrinkage Control: Manage stock documentation, minimize damages/shrinkage, and coordinate timely returns to vendors.
- Stock Aging: Analyze aging inventory and execute effective liquidation plans.
2. Financial & Performance Management
- P&L Accountability: Track monthly P&L, focusing on initiatives to boost sales, improve margins, and reduce controllable costs.
- Cost Efficiency: Implement "Every Day Low Cost" (EDLC) concepts by evaluating policies to improve operational efficacy.
- Revenue Generation: Identify opportunities for "Other Income" through scrap sales and floor space selling.
3. Operational Excellence & Customer Service
- Checkout Operations: Maintain superior service standards at the front end, ensuring smooth billing and fast checkout.
- Promotional Integrity: Manage "Freebie" inventory and distribution accurately.
- Facility Management: Oversee store infrastructure including electricity, DG sets, STP/RO plants, and cold chain maintenance (freezers/chillers).
- Vendor Coordination: Manage third-party teams for housekeeping, loading, pest control, and cash pick-ups.
4. Financial Compliance & Administration
- Cash Management: Ensure timely deposit of sales cash/cheques and manage payouts for day-to-day expenses.
- Audit Readiness: Maintain rigorous documentation for all records to ensure seamless external audits.
- Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with local government officials and coordinate all necessary store licenses.
5. People Leadership & Ethics
- Team Management: Delegate tasks effectively, monitor performance against deadlines, and drive a culture of multi-skilling.
- Development: Lead training initiatives for store associates to enhance productivity.
- Integrity: Uphold the highest standards of ethics and organizational integrity.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 8–10 years of core merchandising experience within the FMCG or Large-format Retail sector.
- Geographic Flexibility: Must be based in or willing to relocate to any major location within Uttar Pradesh.
- Skills: Strong analytical mindset, proficiency in P&L management, excellent vendor negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of retail operations.
