Role Overview:

We are looking for a hands-on Finance Controller to set up and scale the finance function from scratch. This role will be responsible for building robust MIS reporting, establishing internal controls, managing audits, ensuring end-to-end compliance, and driving strong financial governance across the organization.

This person will work directly with the Founder and key stakeholders, bringing strong controllership experience and operational rigor. The ideal candidate has prior experience in high-growth startups, has managed small teams (2–4 members), and understands how to build scalable finance processes in a fast-paced environment.

This is a high-impact role offering end-to-end ownership across accounting, reporting, compliance, cash flow management, and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

-- Financial Reporting & MIS

• Set up and manage monthly MIS and reporting frameworks
• Track revenue, expenses, burn, and key financial metrics
• Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Monitor performance vs budgets and highlight insights

-- Controllership & Internal Controls

• Establish financial controls and governance processes
• Define SOPs across accounting, payments, and approvals
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data

-- Accounting Operations (AR/AP & Reconciliation)

• Oversee AR, AP, and general accounting operations
• Ensure timely collections, vendor payments, and reconciliations
• Review books of accounts and improve processes for scale

-- Audits & Compliance

• Manage statutory and internal audits end-to-end
• Ensure GST, TDS, ROC, and regulatory compliance
• Liaise with auditors and external consultants

-- Cash Flow & Working Capital

• Track cash flow, burn rate, and runway
• Manage working capital and fund utilization
• Optimize receivables and payables cycles

-- Business Finance & Team Management

• Partner with founders on financial insights and decisions
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning
• Manage and mentor a small finance team (2–4 members)

Who We’re Looking For:

• CA qualified (First attempt mandatory)
• 3–7 years of experience in startups or financial services
• Strong hands-on controllership experience
• Prior experience managing a small team (2–4 members)
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
• Experience with Tally / Zoho / QuickBooks or similar tools
• Detail-oriented with a strong process-building mindset
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment

Good to Have:

• Fixed asset management experience
• Payroll oversight and compliance
• Budgeting and forecasting experience
• Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) exposure
• Annual Operating Plan (AOP) preparation
• Experience with startup fundraising processes
• Automation and finance tool implementation
