We're looking for an experienced Deputy Purchasing Manager to lead procurement strategy and vendor management for our manufacturing operations, ensuring cost-effective, uninterrupted supply of materials and services. This role will report to the Manager of Supply Chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business goals
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and services
- Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and sourcing initiatives
- Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers
- Conduct supplier performance reviews covering quality, delivery, cost, and service
- Build long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers
- Lead price, payment, contract, and delivery negotiations
- Achieve annual cost-saving targets through effective negotiation and alternate sourcing
- Review and approve quotations, comparative statements, and purchase orders
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and approval matrices
- Optimize inventory levels while avoiding stock-outs
- Monitor material planning, lead times, and supplier delivery performance
- Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Stores, Finance, and Quality teams
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets
- Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and sourcing risks to control procurement costs
- Maintain accurate procurement records and MIS reporting
- Drive process improvements through ERP/QAD systems
- Support ISO, IATF, BIS, and other relevant compliance requirements
- Present procurement performance, savings, supplier risk, and improvement initiatives to the Plant Head and senior management
- Recommend sourcing strategies to support business continuity
Main Requirements:
- Graduate degree, preferably in Engineering; a Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management or Purchasing is an added advantage.
- You must have 8–10 years of relevant experience in the same role in a manufacturing environment.
- This is an on-site role based in Silvassa.
- Competitive Salary based on experience INR 15-20 lacs /annual.
