Business Development Manager / Account Manager – Government & PSU Sales

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager – Government & PSU Sales to drive growth across Central & State Government departments, PSUs, Smart City projects, and Government Enterprises. The role demands strong domain expertise in cloud, data center, and managed IT services, along with proven experience in handling tender-based sales, GeM portal engagements, and long-term government accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within Government, PSU, and Public Sector Enterprises, including Central/State Government bodies, Autonomous Bodies, and Smart City initiatives.
  • Define and execute go-to-market strategies for Government & PSU verticals in alignment with company objectives.
  • Drive lead generation and client acquisition through tenders (RFP/RFQ), GeM portal, empanelments, and direct engagements.
  • Manage end-to-end government sales cycles, including bid strategy, pre-bid meetings, proposal submission, negotiations, and closures.
  • Set and achieve revenue targets aligned with organizational growth plans.
  • Prepare techno-commercial proposals, presentations, and pitches including requirement gathering and solution mapping.
  • Collaborate with pre-sales, technical, product, and marketing teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into optimal solutions.
  • Lead complex sales negotiations ensuring compliance with government norms and company capabilities.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders across Government & PSU organizations.
  • Maintain active engagement with existing accounts for repeat business, renewals, and up-selling/cross-selling opportunities.
  • Track policy changes, budget announcements, and organizational developments within Government/PSU sectors that may impact business.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, and follow-ups both online and offline.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, IT, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (preferably from a premier institute).
  • Proven experience in Government & PSU IT sales, specifically in cloud services, data center solutions, and managed IT services.
  • Strong understanding of Public/Private Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), Cloud Migration, Virtualization, Data Storage, Cloud Security, and Data Center technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with GeM portal, tendering processes, RFP/RFQ management, and government procurement guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with senior government officials and PSU leadership.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Self-driven, energetic, result-oriented, and a strong team player.
