We are seeking a Finops Engineer to support our Cloud FinOps practice. This role will work closely with the FinOps Manager and CloudOps team to ensure cloud cost efficiency and accountability across the organization. The candidate will be hands-on in validating optimization opportunities, following up with engineering teams, and ensuring identified savings are implemented.

We are seeking a Finops Engineer to support our Cloud FinOps practice. This role will work closely with the FinOps Manager and CloudOps team to ensure cloud cost efficiency and accountability across the organization. The candidate will be hands-on in validating optimization opportunities, following up with engineering teams, and ensuring identified savings are implemented.
Principal Responsibilities
- Support the FinOps Manager in validating technical feasibility of cost optimization opportunities (e.g., rightsizing, idle resource clean-up, storage optimization).
- Act as a liaison with engineering/tech teams when optimization recommendations are challenged or denied, providing technical validation and alternatives.
- Prepare and export regular cloud cost and usage reports to support ongoing optimization efforts.
- Track and follow up daily on identified optimization opportunities to ensure timely implementation.
- Assist in execution of optimizations such as rightsizing, terminating idle resources, scheduling non-prod resources, and applying storage lifecycle policies.
- Support ongoing FinOps practices including tagging governance, anomaly detection, and budget adherence.
- Maintain progress tracking on cost-saving initiatives and provide updates to leadership.
- 3-4 years of experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
- Basic understanding of AWS services (EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, etc.) and their cost drivers.
- Strong interest in cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cost Explorer, CUR, or other reporting/monitoring tools (e.g., Athena, Quick Sight, or third-party tools).
- Mandatory: Strong communication and follow-up skills to coordinate with tech teams and ensure execution of cost initiatives.
- Ability to analyse reports and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Familiarity with savings instruments such as RIs and Savings Plans.
- Knowledge of scripting (Python, SQL, or similar) for automation of reporting and optimization tasks.
- Exposure to FinOps principles and frameworks (e.g., FinOps Foundation).
