Job Description

Job Summary: The Assistant Manager – Accounts will be primarily responsible for overseeing the accounting entries function across multiple entities within the group. The role will supervise the accounting team responsible for posting entries and ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the respective books of accounts in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.

This role will act as the first level of accounting control, responsible for reviewing and approving accounting entries, ensuring completeness of transaction recording, maintaining accounting discipline across entities, and supporting timely book closure and audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Oversight & Bookkeeping Control:

  • Supervise the accounting entries, team responsible for recording financial transactions across multiple group entities.
  • Review and approve accounting entries to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in the correct books of accounts.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions pertaining to the assigned entities are captured completely and correctly in the accounting system.
  • Monitor accounting entries relating to revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, and intercompany transactions.
  • Ensure proper documentation and supporting for all accounting entries in line with internal policies and audit requirements.
  • Ensure correct recording of intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliations between entities.
  • Maintain discipline in entity-level accounting records and ledgers.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual closure of books of accounts for the assigned entities.
  • Support statutory, internal, and other audits for the assigned entities by ensuring timely preparation of schedules, providing required documentation, responding to auditor queries, and coordinating with internal teams to facilitate smooth completion of audits.

Financial Reporting Support:

  • Assist in preparation of financial statements, schedules, and management reports.
  • Work closely with the finance leadership team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyse accounting data and identify errors, inconsistencies, or process gaps.

Taxation & Compliance Support:

  • Ensure accounting entries support GST, TDS, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Work with the tax team to ensure correct classification and recording of tax-related transactions.
  • Assist in preparation of documentation for statutory audits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements.

Internal Controls & Process Discipline:

  • Maintain strong controls around accounting entries and transaction recording.
  • Identify gaps in accounting processes and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and approval processes within the accounting workflow.

Team Supervision

  • Supervise and guide the accounting entries team responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping.
  • Review the work performed by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Provide training and support to improve accounting quality and efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: B.Com and/or semi – qualified CA

• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3-5 years in a mid-management role.

• Industry Preference: Real Estate (preferred), Hospitality or similar multi-entity and asset heavy operating environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience in reviewing and approving accounting entries across multiple entities.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Zoho preferred) and MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with Indian GAAP / applicable accounting standards and tax regulations.
