The Weather Routing Analyst is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and customer-centric voyage routing services to shipping clients. This role combines operational execution, real-time communication, data management, and service coordination. The analyst will handle new voyage requests, set up orders in internal systems, guide vessels through optimal routes, monitor performance, and provide timely updates to both internal and external stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication with shipmasters, clients, and internal teams.

The analyst will handle new voyage requests, set up orders in internal systems, guide vessels through optimal routes, monitor performance, and provide timely updates to both internal and external stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication with shipmasters, clients, and internal teams.
Your Responsibilities
Voyage Setup & Operational Execution
- Receive and process new voyage orders from clients in a timely manner.
- Create, configure, and validate voyage profiles in proprietary routing systems
- Analyze forecast weather, ocean currents, and routing constraints to prepare initial recommended routes.
- Provide route guidance and updates to vessels throughout the voyage, balancing safety, fuel efficiency, and schedule commitments.
- Monitor vessel progress and adjust routing recommendations based on evolving weather or operational conditions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned voyages, ensuring clear, proactive, and professional communication with shipmasters and client representatives.
- Deliver regular performance updates, ETA revisions, and risk advisories to stakeholders.
- Escalate operational concerns or deviations to supervisors when required.
- Support seamless handovers between global offices and teams to ensure 24/7 service continuity.
- Collect, validate, and record vessel performance data (noon reports, sensor data, weather observations, etc.).
- Monitor and document fuel consumption, speed performance, and weather-related deviations using proprietary applications
- Prepare voyage summaries, post-voyage analyses, and client-specific reports as required.
- Contribute data and observations to internal performance databases and dashboards.
- Provide top-tier customer service by ensuring timely responses, accurate information, and professional handling of client queries.
- Support client onboarding and usage of routing dashboards, software tools, and reporting systems when needed.
- Identify recurring client issues or requests and communicate them to supervisors for process or product improvement.
- Help demonstrate the value of routing services through examples of fuel savings, operational efficiencies, and safety improvements.
- Ensure all routing advice adheres to safety standards, regulatory constraints, and company procedures.
- Monitor and highlight operational risks such as adverse weather, piracy zones, ice limits, or restricted navigation areas.
- Document decisions and communications for audit readiness and potential commercial claim scenarios.
- Stay updated on routing-related regulations, environmental requirements, and best practices.
- Work closely with team members across global offices to support unified service delivery.
- Provide operational feedback to supervisors and software teams regarding system functionality or enhancement opportunities.
- Participate in internal training sessions on weather interpretation, ship-shore communication, and routing methodologies.
- Contribute ideas for improving workflow efficiency, reporting quality, and customer experience.
Required
- Minimum STCW II/1 Officer of the Watch (Deck) Certificate of Competency (Second Officer or equivalent).
- 1-3 years sailing experience on ocean going vessels with minimum rank of a third navigational watch officer
- Strong understanding of marine weather forecasting and voyage planning principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience interacting with shipmasters, technical teams, or shipping clients.
- Ability to multitask and work under time-sensitive conditions.
- Proficiency with routing or marine operational software (training will be provided).
- High attention to detail and a strong customer service mindset
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in weather routing, marine operations, or vessel performance analysis (or equivalent internship/academic experience).
- Familiarity with charter party terms, commercial exposure, or vessel performance metrics.
- Exposure to decarbonization initiatives or emissions-related voyage considerations.
