Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Recruitment Advisor, South Asia supports the Regional Manager in driving student enrollment from South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) for Algonquin College (www.algonquincollege.com), located in Ottawa Canada. The role focuses on executing market specific recruitment strategies, managing key partnerships, and strengthening the College’s presence across the region.
Key Responsibilities – Recruitment & Market Development
· Implement regional recruitment plans aligned with institutional enrollment targets and the Regional Manager’s strategic direction.
· Conduct in‑market activities including fairs, school visits, agent training, and student/parent information sessions.
· Deliver virtual and in‑person presentations, webinars, and engagement initiatives tailored to South Asian audiences that support direct and indirect lead generation and conversion.
· Attend recruitment events to advise prospective students and offer‑holders on programs, entry requirements, and application processes.
· Explore and implement non-agent recruitment activities
· Generate applications and support conversion from lead to applicant to registered student.
· Support recruitment and conversion‑focused events such as offer‑holder briefings and pre‑departure sessions.
· Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and policy developments to inform recruitment strategy
· Conduct market research, including gathering school counsellor contacts and competitor entry requirements, and analyzing South Asia market data.
Key Responsibilities – Recruitment & Applications & Conversion
· Use the Algonquin College’s CRM and related tools to manage agents, leads, and applications.
· Collaborate with the Regional Manager, South Asia and International Admissions Officer(s), South Asia to ensure accurate program information and seamless applicant support.
· Support the development and execution of a social media strategy
· Develop, coordinate, and distribute appropriate marketing materials as needed.
Key Responsibilities – Agent Relationship Management
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with recruitment agents across the region.
· Conduct regular visits to agency offices to meet prospective students and engage with agency staff.
· Provide training to agency managers and staff on institutional requirements, processes, and program offerings.
· Support agencies with marketing collateral and up‑to‑date product information.
· Assist the Regional Manager in assessing agent’s performance, conducting due diligence, and providing recommendations based on activity and results.
Qualifications
- At least five years’ experience in international student recruitment or marketing in a higher education environment.
- Experience communicating with a wide range of audiences and tailoring written and spoken communication as appropriate.
- Graduates or postgraduates in any discipline, preferably with a degree in Business or Marketing. A qualification from Canada or familiarity with the Canadian education system would be desirable, but not essential.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written communications).
- Ability to work in a target-oriented environment and under pressure.
- Experience with Customer Relation Management (CRM) software and online engagement portal will be considered an asset
- Experience managing social media accounts and campaigns will be considered an asset.
- Conversant with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Flexible, committed, and driven.
- A good level of self-efficacy relates to problem-solving and client service delivery.
- Ability to travel extensively within the region.
- Knowledge of Canadian higher education and international student mobility trends is an asset.
