Senior Product Designer, LearnWith.AI (Remote) - $200,000/year USD

You'll be joining a learning model with measurable impact already in place at Alpha School. LearnWithAI powers the platform behind it and is scaling rapidly across the United States and internationally. Students complete their core academics in two hours daily and score in the top national percentiles. The model delivers results. What it requires now is someone who thinks constantly about the people using it.

You'll establish design excellence, define standards, and create the function from the ground up. Your scope includes our learning platform and its connected learning applications, serving multiple audiences both within and beyond Alpha.

A five-year-old who hasn't yet learned to read is discovering how to count through a system that must transform novelty into playful engagement. A teenager performing two grades below level is reconstructing confidence after repeated academic setbacks, where a single unclear interaction could reverse progress. A parent gains visibility into their child's actual learning process. That transparency reduces worry and transforms them into an effective partner. An academic coach overseeing a multi-age classroom requires insight into progress without information overload. You must understand each group with sufficient depth to make authentically different design decisions for each.

Your role centers on the experience layer: investigate each audience with genuine rigor, translate findings into design principles engineers can implement directly, and deliver code-ready outputs that function immediately, not designs that remain in review cycles. You collaborate with product leaders who control outcomes and engineers who deploy production code. You challenge requests that compromise user experience. You maintain full ownership.

You'll deploy AI as a multiplier to accelerate iteration and expand coverage, but your discernment, not the model's initial output, determines what launches. Primary attention stays on our education platform, with periodic work in other areas.

What You Will Be Doing

• Investigate users spanning fundamentally different audiences and develop design principles that reflect that understanding
• Create and sustain design systems within each product's native UI framework so engineering accelerates delivery and design accumulates value rather than scattering
• Develop functional prototypes that enable product leaders to validate decisions in days rather than weeks
• Review existing products through the user lens: identify experience breakdowns, pinpoint engagement costs, determine high-impact opportunities
• Establish design culture here: structure feedback processes, clarify trade-off evaluation, identify non-negotiable standards
• Collaborate with product leaders and engineers, challenge requests that degrade user experience

• Setting product strategy; product leaders control that, you ensure experience aligns with it
• Creating static mockups requiring code translation
• Focusing on a single product; you work across the complete portfolio
• Executing from a design brief; you extract context from ambiguous inputs and begin designing with partial information
• Requesting approval; you possess the autonomy to detect and resolve UX issues without explicit instruction
  
  

Basic Requirements

Senior Product Designer key responsibilities

• Minimum 5 years in product design or UX positions, with complete ownership from research through delivered experience
• Clear evidence of user empathy and research rigor across audiences substantially different from yourself
• Validated design craft in interaction and visual design, with a portfolio demonstrating audience-tailored choices instead of universal patterns, combined with distinct design perspectives
• Confirmed AI-native workflow: rapid iteration, evaluative judgment, and capacity to challenge initial AI output rather than defaulting to acceptance
• Capability to convert designs into code using AI tools and contemporary frameworks
• Confident establishing a design function and culture from inception, not inheriting existing processes

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
