Senior Operations Head - International Logistics

Lumen is the holding company overseeing a growing portfolio of international businesses, including Lumen Trading (East Africa freight forwarding), Lumen Associates (India-based project operations), and entities in Bangladesh and Sudan. From our Cochin back-office, we coordinate strategy, operations, and support across the group to drive efficiency and expansion.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Head to oversee and synchronise operational activities across the Lumen group of companies. This strategic role requires ensuring seamless coordination between our freight forwarding, project operations, and regional offices, while implementing best practices and leading cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and streamline operations across group entities: Lumen Trading (East Africa freight), Lumen Associates (India projects), and Logistics operations in Bangladesh and Sudan.

• Ensure effective coordination between shipping, logistics, project execution, and regional compliance teams.

• Develop and implement standardised operating procedures (SOPs) for consistency and efficiency across the group.

• Monitor performance, analyse operational data, and identify improvements in cost, service, and productivity.

• Lead, mentor, and train operations teams in different regions and business units.

• Manage Clients communication and ensure alignment with group business objectives.

• Troubleshoot operational bottlenecks and drive project-based initiatives to support business growth.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in Senior management, preferably within freight forwarding, project operations, or multi-country business environments.

• Proven experience in managing cross-functional and multi-cultural teams.

• Strong understanding of international logistics, documentation, and project coordination.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office/Excel. It will be an added advantage if participated in any ERP implementation.

• Excellent communication in English.
