Senior CAD Designer - Fire & Security Systems

Sr. Draughtsman for Fire & Security Systems - Location: Chennai

Senior Draughtsman for fire & security systems, should create technical shop drawings for fire protection systems, fire detection & alarm systems, security systems (like all water based systems including water mist, foam based systems, Gas suppression systems, Fire Alarm Systems, CCTV, Access control systems etc.) using CAD software, like AutoCAD and Revit etc., ensuring designs comply with international building codes, safety standards like NFPA, Local Civil Defence regulations if any etc.

Responsibilities include coordinating with approving authorities, Hawk design teams and consultants, and updating drawings based on their feedbacks.

The role requires strong technical drawing skills both in 2D & 3D, a keen eye for detail, and effective communication to support project delivery. He should also co-ordinate with his Jr.draughtsmans and reporting design engineers, should make sure the drawing and documentation works are completed as per agreed schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Technical Drawings:

Prepare detailed technical shop drawings and plans for various fire protection systems, fire alarm & security systems, understanding the scope of works and following design engineers demands.A keen eye for detail is crucial for creating precise designs.

• Utilize CAD Software:

Use CAD software like AutoCAD, Revit, latest versions or similar drafting tools to create and modify designs.

• Ensure Code Compliance:

Verify that all designs adhere to relevant local and international codes and standards, including National Building Codes (NBC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

• Collaborate with a Team:

Work closely with seniors, design engineers, and other professionals to finalize designs and documentations.

• Maintain Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of all drawings, revisions, and project documentation.

• Revise and Update:

Update drawings based on feedback / comments from clients, regulators, or the Hawk design team.

• Integrate MEP Systems:

Assist in creating coordinated Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) drawings by integrating fire systems with other building services.

• Learning the new systems quickly:

Senior draughtsman also should show interest in learning the New fire systems and should be able to quickly understand and create the required shop drawings for it, as per Designer demands.

Qualification

Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil engineering

AutoCAD / Revit training certificate from any recognized institutes.

Experience

Should have minimum 5-7 Years’ experience in fire protection systems & fire alarm system drawing preparations.
