Job Function/Role Summary: The Corporate Accountant – Project Costing & Financial Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate company accounts, overseeing project-based cost accounting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic financial decisions. This role includes preparing financial reports, managing project budgets, performing cost variance analysis, and ensuring internal controls are in place for optimal resource utilization.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Saturday, 9:00a.m. to 6:00pm. Hours may vary on occasion, depending on workload and Need basis Visit to the Ambattur Office.
Req. Qualification:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's/master’s degree in commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification (CA Inter, CMA, CPA, MBA Finance – preferred)
Req. Experience: 4–8 years of experience in corporate finance and cost accounting roles
Req. Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, SAP or similar ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and corporate accounting principles
- Hands-on experience in budgeting, project cost tracking, and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills for MIS and forecasting
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Corporate Accounting & Compliance
- Maintain accurate company books in accordance with internal policies and statutory norms.
- Record general ledger entries, journal postings, and carry out reconciliations (bank, vendor, etc.).
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST, TDS, income tax, and other statutory returns.
- Liaise with auditors for statutory, internal, and tax audits.
- Maintain schedules for depreciation, assets, liabilities, and other financial records.
2. Project Cost Accounting
- Monitor and record project expenses across departments and stages.
- Accurately allocate direct and indirect costs to individual projects.
- Analyze actual vs. budgeted costs and report variances with justifications.
- Assist in preparing cost sheets, pricing support, and profitability analysis for client bids.
- Collaborate with project managers to align financial data with project milestones.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts at both corporate and project levels.
- Track and report on key financial KPIs such as burn rate, ROI, cost overruns, and margins.
- Deliver MIS reports and variance analyses for leadership decision-making.
4. Financial Control & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to internal financial approval processes and cost policies.
- Monitor project advances, vendor payments, and accounts receivables for timely closure.
- Identify and report financial risks, leakages, or inefficiencies with recommendations.
- Support the implementation of SOPs and audit trails to strengthen internal controls.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Generate custom reports for project costing, department-level expenses, and financial performance.
- Assist management with cost-saving analyses and financial planning insights.
- Maintain well-documented records for project audits, certifications, and regulatory review.
