The Sales Engineer will be responsible for business development, technical sales, and customer relationship management in the steel downstream processing sector, including rolling mills, finishing lines, heat treatment, and related equipment. The role requires strong techno-commercial expertise, market development capability, and the ability to manage complex project sales.


Reporting: The role will report to the Head of the Department.


Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Business Development: Identify new opportunities in steel downstream processing and build relationships with steel plants, consultants, and EPC companies.
  • Technical Sales: Understand customer needs, propose solutions, and prepare techno-commercial offers & tenders.
  • Market Intelligence: Track trends in rolling mills, finishing lines (HRM/CRM, GP-GC, Color Coated, ZAM), furnaces, and competitor activities.
  • Customer Management: Maintain strong client relationships through technical discussions and presentations.
  • Project Sales: Manage end-to-end sales cycle from lead generation to order finalisation, including coordination with overseas principals.
  • Tender & Contract Management: Review RFQs and ensure compliance with technical and commercial requirements.
  • Site Support: Conduct plant visits, technical surveys, and coordinate post-sales support.


Desired Skills & Background


Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of steel downstream processes (Rolling Mills, Heat Treatment, Pickling, Coating, Finishing, ZAM Lines)
  • Understanding of steel metallurgy & mechanical systems
  • Ability to read PFD, P&ID, GA drawings and technical specifications


Commercial Skills:

  • Contract negotiation & tender management


Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication & presentation
  • Customer relationship management
  • Strategic thinking & market development
  • Ability to handle cross-functional teams


Educational Qualification:

  • 6–8 years of experience in Steel / Metallurgy / EPC / Engineering Equipment sectors
  • B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering (MBA preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of steel downstream processes and metallurgy
  • Ability to read PFD, P&ID, GA drawings, and technical specifications
  • Experience in technical sales, tendering, and contract negotiation
  • Strong communication, presentation, and customer management skills
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to handle cross-functional teams.
