Job Description
In this role you will be responsible for driving the sourcing strategy to support specific category supply lanes within a defined global region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regional input on the overall strategy for the category and execute the regional aspect of the strategy.
- Develop and lead all strategic sourcing initiatives within the region.
- Own and deliver necessary outcomes for critical and operational SRM suppliers. First point of contact to resolve any regional supplier issues or concerns.
- Provide input as necessary to Global Sourcing Managers and Lane Leaders.
- Stay up to date on purchase order status, next point of escalation after the Purchasing Manager
- Provide inputs on lead times, supplier capacity and variability risks as inputs to inventory management.
- Provide input on readiness and potential shortages.
- Ensure all materials within the region are shipped as required by lead time definition.
- Be “Boots on Site” when issues occur at supplier’s facility to report on and resolve issues.
- Assist to resolve issues on the supplier’s side.
- Drive and achieve results to Husky’s annual budget. Identify and create a robust roadmap of TCO (total cost of ownership) savings projects. Execute and track cost savings project. Manage inflation and cost increases, identifying risk, mitigation actions and tracking PPV (Purchase price variance).
- Be “Boots on Site,” at supplier sites to audit processes with SQE’s.
- Coordinate appropriately with supplier quality team and regional sourcing manager for specific commodity issues including relentless root cause analysis and error-proofing to mitigate impact to the business
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or company policies, procedures, work rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Commodity Manager / Sourcing Manager or equivalent role with strong network regionally with in-depth knowledge of India and regional suppliers/key players and market drivers
- Experience in technical assessment, limitations, and opportunities during introduction of new product development or technology
- Understanding of "total landed cost" concepts, basic cost accounting and inventory optimization
- Understand lean manufacturing principles, experience with process mapping
- Prior negotiation experiences
- Analytical acumen; Strategic Thinker
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office and other software tools for analysis
- Extremely organized with superior follow-up and follow through
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to tailor communications to audiences at all levels, including senior leadership
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Experience working in a team-oriented, global environment
- Able to travel to foreign countries to assess and evaluate potential new suppliers, technologies, products
- Engineering degree or bachelor’s degree in business is preferred.
