Position Summary

The Senior Civil Engineer (Estimation) will lead technical estimation and bid preparation for

ROSWALT's construction projects. This role requires deep expertise in construction

methodology, quantity estimation, cost analysis, and competitive bidding. The ideal

candidate will prepare accurate project estimates, develop winning bid strategies, and

support business development initiatives ensuring profitable project acquisition and

successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Project Estimation & BOQ Preparation

• Prepare detailed project estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for residential and

commercial construction projects

• Analyze architectural, structural, and MEP drawings extracting accurate quantities for

all construction activities

• Develop comprehensive estimates covering civil works, finishing, MEP, external

development, and contingencies

• Apply standard measurement practices (IS codes, CPWD specifications) ensuring

consistency and accuracy

Cost Analysis & Rate Building

• Build-up rates for construction activities analyzing material costs, labor rates,

equipment charges, and overheads

• Conduct market surveys gathering current material prices and subcontractor rates

• Develop cost databases maintaining historical rate information for future estimation

reference

• Benchmark rates against industry standards and competitor pricing ensuring

competitive yet profitable quotes

Technical Bid Preparation

• Prepare technical proposals responding to RFPs and tender requirements

• Develop construction methodology and execution plans demonstrating technical

capabilities

• Prepare project schedules, resource plans, and quality assurance frameworks

• Coordinate with design consultants, MEP engineers, and subcontractors for

comprehensive bid development

Pre-Construction Planning

• Conduct site visits assessing site conditions, access, utilities, and construction

challenges

• Identify project risks preparing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans

• Develop construction sequences optimizing execution approach for time and cost

efficiency

• Prepare preliminary project budgets breaking down costs by trade and activity

Value Engineering & Cost Optimization

• Identify value engineering opportunities suggesting alternative materials, methods, or

designs

• Conduct cost-benefit analysis evaluating trade-offs between cost, quality, and

schedule

• Support design optimization collaborating with architects and engineers on cost-

effective solutions

• Recommend construction methodology improvements enhancing efficiency and

reducing costs

Client Engagement & Presentation

• Participate in client meetings presenting technical approach and project

understanding

• Address technical queries from clients demonstrating expertise and building

confidence

• Support commercial negotiations providing technical input on scope clarifications and

variations

• Coordinate handover to project execution team ensuring smooth transition from

estimation to execution.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Lead and mentor junior estimation engineers building team capabilities

• Review estimates prepared by team members ensuring accuracy and consistency

• Establish estimation standards and templates promoting efficiency and quality

• Conduct training sessions sharing best practices and technical knowledge

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) • 10-15 years of experience in construction estimation with minimum 5 years in senior

capacity

• Extensive experience with residential and commercial building projects

• Proven track record in winning competitive bids and accurate project cost estimation

• Experience with high-rise buildings, premium residential, and commercial complexes

preferred

Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices

• Proficiency in AutoCAD for quantity takeoffs and drawing interpretation

• Advanced MS Excel skills for estimation calculations and rate analysis

• Familiarity with estimation software (CostX, Plan swift) is advantageous

• Understanding of project management principles and scheduling

• Knowledge of Indian Standards (IS codes) and construction specifications
