What You Will Do
The role of the Principal at Materials (R&D) is pivotal, as they take the lead in Supplier driven changes or Cost improvement projects across the Asia Pacific Region (APAC) with a global perspective. This position is integral to supporting global base business and chemical resiliency operations, particularly in addressing supplier-driven changes, Cost improvement projects and troubleshooting for both internal and external manufacturing sites. The Principal Scientist collaborates closely with global business partners, playing a key role in delivering impactful global initiatives.
Furthermore, the Principal Scientist at Materials Team (R&D), lead and provide technical guidance on raw material projects for renowned products, including NEUTROGENA®, AVEENO®, TYLENOL®, LISTERINE®, JOHNSON’S®, and BAND-AID®.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in chemistry/ pharmacy / Life Science / Cosmetic Technology with 10-12 years of experience or Master’s degree with 10 years of experience. Minimum 3-4 years of experience in Change management & people management is required

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities
As a Principal Scientist role in the Change Management workstream at APAC Materials Team is defined by a diverse and impactful array of responsibilities:
- Lead to drive the execution of Supplier driven changes (BCP) and/or Cost improvement projects (Rubicon) for raw material qualifications for personal care products, representing the APAC region in core technical team meetings.
- Provide support to the team and ensure the timely completion and compliance of regional and global projects triggered by raw material discontinuations, supplier-driven changes, cost improvement initiatives, and business continuity projects.
- Introduce process improvement ideas or optimize processes for driving simplifications to foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. Collaborate closely with Procurement, Plant, Quality, and Rapid Response teams to execute innovative, science-based qualification projects that ensure business continuity and reduction in qualification timeline and costs.
- Build or strengthen the technical expertise of team by bringing in a more profound scientific rationale regarding raw material chemistry, its function, and characteristics in products. Contribute insights to new products, process, standards or operations supporting projects.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of processes, functions and technical expertise to drive informed decision making or provide strategic suggestions to supply chain and R&D functions to build a robust and strategic category for the future.
- Engage with and drive actions to improve reliability and agility with strategic suppliers. Facilitate discussions on upcoming changes, challenges, and mutual support required.
- Cultivate an agile mindset within the team and drive new ways of working, promoting agility with stakeholders across R&D and Supply Chain. Thorough training is provided to develop technical expertise, soft skills, and global exposure.
What We Are Looking For
