Plant Finance Manager
Umendra Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.
Job Description
Who we are
Umendra Life Sciences manufactures OTC topical pharmaceutical and personal care products — creams, gels, ointments, lotions — for export markets including the US. We're a process-driven, compliance-first manufacturing facility near Bavla (35–40 km from Ahmedabad), and we're building the finance function to match the operational rigour we already have on the plant floor.
The Role
We need a Plant Finance Manager who owns plant finance — not reports to someone who does.
Product costing. Inventory reconciliation. GST compliance. MIS that leadership actually uses. This is a hands-on role embedded in manufacturing operations, working directly with Production, Procurement, Stores, QA/QC, and Dispatch.
What You'll Own
Manufacturing Accounting & Cost Control
- Own BOM-linked cost cards across all SKUs and dosage forms — built, maintained, and updated as inputs change
- Track standard vs. actual cost variances with Production and Procurement; investigate and close the gap, not just report it
- Provide product-level margin visibility that leadership can act on
- Validate batch and job costing records for financial accuracy
Inventory & ERP Discipline
- Own RM, PM, WIP, and FG inventory reconciliation end-to-end
- Ensure ERP entries reflect real physical movement — GRN, consumption, dispatch, returns — not catch-up postings
- Drive ERP discipline across departments; resolve discrepancies at source, not month-end
- Lead periodic physical stock verification
Statutory & Tax Compliance
- File GSTR-1, 3B, 9/9C independently
- Own ITC reconciliation and resolve mismatches proactively
- Manage TDS filings and maintain audit-ready documentation year-round
MIS & Financial Reporting
- Close books monthly within defined timelines
- Produce MIS that drives decisions: product-level P&L, margin analysis, inventory aging, working capital tracking
- Flag cost variances vs. budget early — before they become problems
Audit & Internal Controls
- Maintain controls across procurement-to-payment and inventory flows
- Own SOPs for accounting processes; eliminate repeat audit observations at root cause
- Support statutory and cost audits with documentation that doesn't need explaining
Who Fits
You have 8+ years in finance and accounts inside a manufacturing organisation — not a trading house, not a corporate head office, not a distribution setup. You've built cost cards, closed books under pressure, filed GST returns without a consultant doing the heavy lifting, and walked into a cost audit without scrambling.
You're comfortable on the plant floor. You understand that manufacturing finance is an operational function, not a back-office one.
Education: B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance). CA Inter is an advantage. Qualified CAs are welcome — if you're genuinely comfortable in a plant-facing, hands-on role and not looking for a corporate finance track.
ERP: Tally, SAP, Dynamics, or equivalent.
What This Role Is Not
- Not a remote or hybrid role — you're at the plant, in the process
- Not a reporting role where someone else owns the numbers
- Not a step toward a corporate finance career — this is manufacturing finance, and that's the job
- Not right for someone whose GST compliance means reviewing what the consultant filed
