Position OverviewWe are seeking a Junior Corporate & Regulatory Attorney to join our Legal team, with a strong emphasis on regulatory matters. This role will support the company’s compliance with insurance and financial services regulations, while also contributing to transactional and investment-related legal work.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within a regulated financial institution (e.g., insurance company, bank, asset manager) or advising such clients, with exposure to regulatory frameworks, corporate transactions, and real estate or credit-related matters.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal support on regulatory and compliance matters, including insurance and financial services regulations
- Assist in interpreting and applying state insurance laws, regulatory guidance, and industry requirements
- Support regulatory filings, inquiries, and interactions with state insurance departments and other regulators
- Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory considerations related to new products, investments, and business initiatives
- Support corporate transactions, including investments, financings, and strategic initiatives
- Review, draft, and negotiate agreements, including NDAs, investment documents, and loan-related contracts
- Provide legal support for commercial mortgage lending and other investment activities
- Conduct legal due diligence across corporate, regulatory, and real estate matters
- Coordinate with external counsel on specialized regulatory and transactional issues
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 1–4 years of relevant legal experience (law firm or in-house)
- Experience working with or advising regulated financial institutions (insurance companies, banks, asset managers, or similar)
- Strong exposure to regulatory and compliance matters in financial services or insurance
- Experience with corporate transactions and contract drafting/negotiation
- Familiarity with commercial real estate, lending, or structured finance is a plus
- Strong analytical, drafting, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Experience with insurance regulatory frameworks (e.g., annuities, statutory requirements, state DOI interactions)
- Background in banking regulation, asset management, or broker-dealer regulation
- Exposure to commercial real estate lending or CMBS-related transactions
- Experience at a law firm with financial regulatory, corporate, or real estate practice
