Role Overview

This is a senior technical leadership role for a builder who leads.

As Head of Engineering, you will define engineering standards, guide system architecture, and shape how products are designed, built, and evolved. You will work directly with founders and CTOs, as well as product leadership, to influence technical direction, delivery culture, and long-term system health, while staying hands-on in critical parts of the codebase.

This role is for someone who enjoys owning the full technical lifecycle, from early system design through production scale, and who sees engineering as a lever for product quality, team effectiveness, and long-term business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Own overall technical direction, engineering standards, and system architecture
• Lead the design and execution of core platform and product features
• Stay hands-on in critical parts of the codebase while guiding senior and mid-level engineers
• Build and mentor a high-trust, high-ownership engineering culture
• Break down ambiguous goals into clear technical plans and execution paths
• Establish and improve development workflows, review processes, and quality gates
• Guide pragmatic decisions around scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability
• Introduce and refine AI-augmented development workflows, including agentic coding patterns and production guardrails

Technical Expectations

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong full-stack background with React, TypeScript, and Next.js or similar modern frontend frameworks
• Backend experience with Node.js-based systems
• Experience designing and maintaining production-grade architectures
• Familiarity with SQL databases and cloud-based deployment environments
• Practical experience with AI-augmented development, including agentic coding and basic production guardrails
• Experience with real-time systems is a strong plus

Engineering Standards and Quality

• Set and maintain a high bar for code quality, reliability, and system clarity
• Balance speed with long-term maintainability and operational stability
• Encourage continuous refactoring, performance awareness, and technical debt management
• Promote simple, understandable architectures over over-engineered systems

Communication and Collaboration

• Strong written and spoken English
• Comfortable documenting technical decisions and system designs asynchronously
• Ability to represent engineering perspective in product and business discussions

Decision Making and Ownership

• Take full ownership of technical outcomes, delivery quality, and system health
• Make pragmatic trade-offs aligned with product goals and business realities
• Proactively identify and resolve technical risks before they become blockers
