Job Summary
The Product Development Sr. Specialist is responsible for improving or developing new products, components, equipment, systems, technologies, or processes. This role ensures that research and design methodologies meet scientific and engineering standards and supports the organization in achieving technical, functional, and cost targets.
This job profile is intended for specialist professionals that apply advanced knowledge of a job area. Required to manage projects / processes independently with limited supervision. Typically coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.
Job Purpose
Lead internals product portfolio lifecycle management from ideation until phase out, aligning it with business goals and customer needs
Drive technology leadership and commercial success, through leading new product launches and supporting Product growth initiatives, working closely with regions to achieve targets.
Collaborate with Product Experts and/or Lead of TFO-Internals, and to ensure best engineering and manufacturing practices with IDS and regions.

Main Accountabilities And Tasks
Technology
- Ensure internals product portfolio meets market requirement and maintains technological leadership
- Ensure that the handbooks are up-to-date
- Identify and track market trends, competition landscape to ensure product portfolio meets customers needs
- Collaborate with R&D, Sales to advance stage-gate for new product development, as backed by business
- Cooperate with Product Managers, Product Experts and/or Lead of TFO-Products - Trays, Packing, Separators, as internals are usually offered in combination with these products
- Initiative to address new markets / applications, with vision of Sulzer internals portfolio at the core
- Develop more systematic approach to address opportunities
- Lead the launch of new products and coordinate activities bound to launch, through collaboration with various departments: R&D, Sales, ComEx, Operations
- Regular product portfolio review as part of lifecycle management, and for market relevancy
- Lead internals product improvement bound to mechanical and cost optimization, through collaboration with regional workshops
- Ensure refined design rules are implemented into design tools
- Ensure cost savings are implemented in costing tools
