Position: General Manager – Business Development (Aluminium Division) India Lead

Location: Mumbai, India

Experience: 7–10 Years

Division: BCD Division (Internal)

Industry: Aluminium / Extrusion

Reporting To: VP Technical Sales / Managing Director


Role Overview

The General Manager – Business Development will be responsible for driving sales and market expansion of aluminium billets across the Indian extrusion industry. This role focuses on developing new customers, managing key accounts, achieving revenue and volume targets, and strengthening long-term relationships with extrusion manufacturers, fabricators, and OEMs.

The position requires strong commercial acumen, in depth knowledge of aluminium billet grades (2xxx, 3xxx, 4xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx series), and hands-on experience in the Indian extrusion market.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand business for standard aluminium billets across the Indian extrusion market.
  • Identify, onboard, and develop new customers while increasing volumes with existing key accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with extrusion companies, profile manufacturers, fabricators, infrastructure suppliers, and OEMs.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, and pricing strategies in line with market dynamics and company guidelines.
  • Negotiate pricing, credit terms, and finalize Annual Rate Contracts (ARCs) with customers.
  • Help & participate in Alloy and technical development.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and volume targets while maintaining a strong and sustainable sales pipeline.
  • Monitor customer receivables, coordinate collections, and ensure adherence to approved credit limits and payment terms.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams including Planning, Production, Dispatch, Logistics, and Commercial to ensure timely deliveries and high customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate customer data, CRM records, and sales MIS reports for management review.
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to support pricing and business strategy decisions.
  • Represent the company at aluminium industry exhibitions, trade fairs, conferences, and customer engagement events.
  • Travel extensively across India to develop market presence and manage customer relationships.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Engineering preferred).
  • MBA in Marketing / Sales will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of proven sales and business development experience in aluminium billets within the Indian extrusion market.
  • At least 5 years of direct exposure working with aluminium extrusion plants or extrusion-linked industries.
  • Strong understanding of billet consumers, buying behaviour, pricing mechanisms, and commercial practices in India.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of aluminium billet grades, pricing structures, and commercial contracts.
  • Experience in credit management, receivables control, and payment security practices.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, MS Office, and sales reporting tools.
  • Highly target-driven, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution and follow-through capabilities.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively across India.
