General Manager

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the Batavia, Ohio manufacturing facility specializing in the fabrication of large-scale generator enclosures and related heavy metal assemblies. This role oversees all plant operations including production, safety, quality, supply chain, engineering coordination and financial performance.

The General Manager drives operational excellence, ensures on-time delivery and high product quality, develops strong customer relationships, and leads a high-performing team in a fast-paced heavy manufacturing environment. This position is accountable for meeting production targets, managing costs, maintaining safety standards and supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

• Provide overall leadership for plant operations including fabrication, welding, machining, finishing, and final assembly of generator enclosures.
• Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
• Drive operational improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Implement and support lean manufacturing initiatives across the facility.

Financial & Business Performance

• Manage plant P&L, including budgeting, cost control and financial performance.
• Monitor key performance indicators including productivity, on-time delivery, scrap, labor efficiency and inventory levels.
• Identify opportunities to improve margins through operational efficiency and supply chain optimization.
• Support strategic planning and growth initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop plant leadership including production, materials, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and develop succession plans for key positions.
• Promote collaboration across departments to support operational goals.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure a safe working environment and enforce all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the facility.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards and applicable regulations.

Customer & Quality Focus

• Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality generator enclosure products that meet customer specifications.
• Support customer relationships and collaborate with sales and engineering teams on new projects and product requirements.
• Address operational challenges impacting delivery, quality or customer satisfaction.

Supply Chain & Materials Management

• Oversee procurement, inventory control, and material flow to support manufacturing operations.
• Ensure the reliable sourcing of raw materials including steel plate, sheet metal, structural components and purchased parts.
• Manage supplier performance and maintain strong vendor partnerships.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement process improvements to improve manufacturing throughput and efficiency.
• Support automation, process standardization and operational best practices.
• Lead initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce downtime and improve overall plant performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
• 5+ years of plant or operations leadership experience in heavy manufacturing, metal fabrication or industrial equipment production.
• Strong experience managing plant operations including fabrication, welding, machining, finishing and assembly.
• Demonstrated experience managing P&L and driving operational performance.
• Experience implementing lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience manufacturing large-scale generator enclosures, power generation equipment or heavy fabricated metal products.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing performance metrics.
