Job Description

This requisition expires on March 31, 2026, but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date.

Responsible for performing moderate-to-complex financial management of all grants in close collaboration with Finance and program staff throughout the grant lifecycle and executing financial responsibilities including forecasting, reporting, and budget support.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure complete, proper, and efficient communication and coordination of post-awarded grant projects.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with department stakeholders to develop grant applications and assist with programmatic grant narratives.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit financial documents and reports, requests for disbursement of grant funds, invoices, and associated grant management documentation; enter purchase orders, as needed.
  • Maintain grants master list and ensure data integrity in various financial reporting systems.
  • Track expenditures and received funds and reconciles grant financial records with financial system to ensure proper documentation and compliance; make grant purchases, as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for department staff on grant processes, budgeting and accounting activity, grant requirements and regulations to ensure effective implementation of each grant.
  • Prepare, research, and forecast data related to revenue and expenditures.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and with quarterly financial compilation.
  • Monitor financial system for accuracy and provide analysis for expenditures and revenues throughout the fiscal year.
  • Provide technical support to department budget liaisons and assist with the budget submission process.
  • Verify reports against source records to determine reliability.
  • Verify details of recorded transactions and examine department revenue and expenditures.
  • Perform delegated research tasks and prepare reports, graphs, and charts as required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field, and,
  • Two (2) years of experience in grant/fund accounting, general accounting, compliance experience or related field;

OR

  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

  • Ability to locate information; identify and interpret essential information.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYEMENT

  • Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification.
  • Must meet civilian hiring standards of the Denton Police Department.

SAFETY

  • Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions in work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing)
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Environment: Works in an office setting; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
