Job Title: Functional Perceived Quality Engineer / Convergence Engineer

Location: Pune / Chennai

Experience: 6–10 Years

Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.


Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Functional Perceived Quality Engineer (FPQE) / Convergence Engineer to join our Automotive Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in vehicle fit & finish, gap and flush management, dimensional engineering, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and vehicle convergence activities.

The role involves working closely with Styling, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supplier teams to achieve world-class perceived quality throughout the vehicle development lifecycle—from concept design through production launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage vehicle-level Gap & Flush targets for interior and exterior systems.
  • Define, maintain, and monitor vehicle section books and quality KPIs.
  • Perform vehicle section analysis and geometry validation to ensure compliance with perceived quality requirements.
  • Validate design intent using CATIA V5 and/or Siemens NX.
  • Lead convergence discussions with Styling, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Conduct dimensional analysis, tolerance stack-up studies (1D & 3D), and convergence assessments.
  • Develop and review datum strategies for body, closure, and interior trim systems.
  • Drive issue resolution, root cause analysis, and escalation management during development and vehicle launch.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure product manufacturability and process capability.
  • Monitor program quality metrics and communicate convergence status to stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for vehicle dimensional quality and perceived quality.


Required Skills

  • 6–10 years of experience in Automotive Product Development or Vehicle Engineering.
  • Strong experience in Vehicle Gap & Flush Management.
  • Hands-on expertise in Perceived Quality Engineering and Vehicle Convergence.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T principles and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and/or Siemens NX.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and plastic component design and manufacturing.
  • Experience with datum strategy development for body, closure, and interior systems.
  • Good understanding of vehicle manufacturing processes, including Body Shop and General Assembly.
  • Experience in dimensional variation analysis and vehicle dimensional management.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Process Capability studies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with global and cross-functional engineering teams.
