A Day In The Life As a Float Teacher

A Day In The Life As a Float Teacher
As the Float, you’ll play an essential role in providing all aspects of a quality child development program with emphasis on the cognitive, social and emotional development of preschool-aged children. Your day will involve:
- Works as a team member assisting in care and routines of children including toileting, meal times, hand washing, helping children brush their teeth, cleaning the classroom, etc.
- Engages in adult-child interactions that are responsive, supportive, and respectful of children’s needs, development, and play interests.
- Provides extra support to teaching teams during nap and transition times, as well as aiding the site in break and planning time coverage.
Requirements
Qualifications to Be a Float Teacher:
To Excel In This Role, You’ll Need
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent credential, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or equivalent; must have Child Growth and Development coursework or equivalent coursework according to NH State Childcare Licensing requirements
- Experience: Previous experience working in an early childhood classroom setting (preschool, infant/toddler)
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with young children and their families and ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.
- Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience.
- Technical: successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification
