The Executive Director – Global Trade Lanes & Logistics Performance Index (LPI) is a strategic leadership role responsible for spearheading the development, implementation, and optimization of global trade lanes and logistics frameworks that enhance operational efficiency and performance metrics across international supply chains. This position demands a results-driven professional with over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in logistics management, trade operations, and operational excellence within a global context. The Executive Director will leverage performance data from the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) to formulate innovative strategies, enhance collaboration among stakeholders, drive cross-functional initiatives, and set measurable performance standards. Exceptional analytical prowess, advanced negotiation skills, and a profound understanding of regulatory compliance and international trade relations are essential to succeed in this role. This position will work directly with C-suite executives to influence organizational change, guide strategic direction, and ensure that our global logistics operations align with the broader business objectives.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in logistics management, supply chain optimization, or international trade operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of utilizing the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) and other benchmarking tools to assess and enhance logistics performance on a global scale.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and leading high-performing teams across diverse geographical regions and cultural contexts.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs compliance, and best practices in global logistics management.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, with a history of delivering data-driven insights and recommendations that lead to operational improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence a variety of stakeholders including C-suite executives, government officials, and industry partners.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and driving financial performance in logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with modern logistics technologies and innovations, including transportation management systems (TMS) and supply chain analytics tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of navigating complex logistical challenges and implementing effective solutions.
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change and foster a culture of continuous improvement within logistics operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and execution of global trade lanes and logistics initiatives to optimize operational efficiencies and enhance supply chain performance.
  • Utilize performance metrics from the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) to identify trends, make recommendations, and implement improvement plans across international logistics operations.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and communicate the organization’s vision and strategic objectives related to global logistics and supply chain management.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including logistics service providers, regulatory bodies, and trade associations to ensure the integrity and efficiency of global trade lanes.
  • Drive cross-functional teams in identifying opportunities for innovation and enhancing logistics processes, technologies, and capabilities.
  • Monitor changes in international trade regulations and compliance requirements, proactively adapting organizational practices to mitigate risks and maintain compliance.
  • Spearhead initiatives aimed at cost reduction and value optimization while maintaining or exceeding service quality standards within the logistics framework.
  • Develop and manage high-impact training and development programs focused on enhancing team capabilities in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Report to the executive team on the status of logistics operations and performance against established metrics, providing strategic recommendations for improvement.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employees at all levels to identify inefficiencies and propose innovative solutions within logistics operations.
