Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Function/Dept Purpose Statement
The Engineering Projects Lead is responsible for leading and delivering engineering projects from concept through completion. This role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with technical, quality, and regulatory standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and effective cross-functional coordination.

The Engineering Projects Lead is responsible for leading and delivering engineering projects from concept through completion. This role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with technical, quality, and regulatory standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and effective cross-functional coordination.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of engineering projects, from feasibility and design through commissioning and handover
- Define project scope, technical requirements, timelines, budgets, and resource plans
- Coordinate with engineering design, procurement, construction, quality, and HSE teams
- Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Monitor and control project progress, costs, schedules, and performance metrics
- Identify project risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, HSE requirements, and statutory regulations
- Manage contractors, vendors, consultants, and external service providers
- Conduct regular project reviews and provide status updates to senior management
- Manage change orders, technical deviations, and approval processes.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or related discipline)
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in engineering, project management, or project execution roles
- Demonstrated experience in engineering design, construction, installation, and commissioning activities
- Strong technical and engineering judgment
- Proven leadership and team coordination capabilities
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Expertise in risk identification, cost control, and schedule management
- Working knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and quality management systems
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and/or lead cross-functional teams
