A Day in the Life
- Support the site's Industrial Hygiene Program through exposure assessment, monitoring, and risk reduction initiatives.
- Conduct industrial hygiene assessments for laboratory and pharmaceutical compounds.
- Perform noise monitoring and personal dosimetry studies.
- Assist with ergonomic evaluations and recommend practical improvements.
- Analyze exposure monitoring data and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Partner with operations, engineering, quality, and site leadership teams to proactively identify and address occupational health risks.
- Participate in workplace risk assessments using established EHS methodologies.
- Support incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Deliver engaging EHS training, toolbox talks, and awareness activities.
- Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programs, including Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Chemical Management, and Occupational Health Programs.
- Actively engage with colleagues on the manufacturing floor and within laboratory environments to promote safe work practices.
- Support area EHS meetings, daily operational reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with EHS professionals across Thermo Fisher sites to share best practices and drive standardization.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
- 1-3+ years of industrial hygiene, occupational health, or EHS experience.
- Manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or laboratory experience preferred.
- Internship, co-op, or early career experience in EHS or Industrial Hygiene will be considered.
- Foundational knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and occupational exposure assessment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and communicate technical data effectively.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable working in operational environments and engaging directly with employees.
