Position Overview
The Director – School of Law will serve as the academic and administrative head of the Law School, responsible for academic excellence, faculty leadership, institutional reputation, and student enrollment growth. The role demands a visionary academic leader who can elevate the School of Law’s standing while driving student admissions through high-quality education, innovative programs, and strong stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Quality Enhancement
- Provide strategic direction to ensure excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and academic governance.
- Lead accreditation, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote research culture, publications, moot courts, legal clinics, and academic collaborations.
Admissions Growth & Institutional Branding
- Develop and execute strategies to increase student admissions through program innovation, outreach initiatives, and academic reputation building.
- Actively engage with schools, colleges, coaching institutes, and professional bodies to strengthen the admissions pipeline.
- Represent the School of Law at education fairs, conferences, and public forums.
Faculty & Staff Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members to build a high-performing academic team.
- Foster a collaborative culture of professional development and academic innovation.
- Ensure optimal faculty deployment and workload planning.
Student Development & Outcomes
- Oversee student engagement initiatives including internships, placements, legal aid clinics, and industry partnerships.
- Strengthen alumni relations and employer connections to enhance graduate outcomes.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with BCI, UGC, and other statutory regulations.
- Prepare academic budgets, performance reports, and strategic proposals for university leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Ph.D. in Law is highly preferred; minimum LLM from a recognized university / institution of national importance like NLU, NLSIU, NALSAR, WBNUJS etc.
- Minimum 15+ years of academic experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (Dean / Director).
- Demonstrated success in academic administration, accreditation, and admissions growth.
- Strong understanding of Indian legal education frameworks and regulatory environment.
