Job Description

EHS Strategy & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and review the annual EHS plan in collaboration with site leadership.
  • Lead EHS Council, Factory Safety Committee, and Management Review meetings.
  • Drive the development, documentation, and effective implementation of Safety SOPs.
  • Prepare and manage the annual EHS budget; plan and procure safety and fire‑related equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Certifications
  • Ensure full compliance with local and national EHS and fire safety regulations.
  • Act as the Management Representative for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
  • Liaise with government fire and regulatory authorities to fulfill statutory obligations.
  • Manage relations with regulatory agencies and local communities to build trust and ensure social responsibility.
  • Risk Management & Safety Operations
  • Ensure strict implementation of work authorizations for high‑risk jobs (hot work, confined space entry, work at height, etc.).
  • Conduct EHS risk assessments, identify mitigations, and ensure compliance with EHS and cGMP standards for process and equipment changes.
  • Lead plant safety inspections, recommend corrective actions, and ensure implementation.
  • Maintain accident reporting systems, conduct incident/near‑miss investigations, and implement preventive measures.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response
  • Develop, review, and participate in the On‑Site Emergency Plan.
  • Organize emergency drills and train employees on emergency handling procedures.
  • Provide guidance to Safety Engineers and Emergency Response Team (ERT) during emergencies to ensure timely and effective response.
  • Ensure fire protection systems are maintained and fully operational.
  • Audits, Reporting & Data Management
  • Coordinate external safety audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Conduct internal audits, monitoring, and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly EHS reports for management and corporate teams.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate EHS performance, trends, and KPIs to stakeholders.
  • Leadership, Culture Building & Capability Development
  • Lead and develop the site EHS team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Promote a proactive and sustainable EHS culture focused on “Target Zero.”
  • Organize awareness programs, safety exhibitions, environmental drives, and safety‑focused events.
  • Collaborate with global EHS networks to bring best practices to the site and share learnings.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with engineering, projects, production, HR, and supply chain teams to integrate EHS into daily operations.
  • Advise department heads and supervisors on injury prevention, job safety studies, and safe work practices.
  • Support procurement teams in selecting quality PPE and ensuring availability of safety materials.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of EHS records including accidents, dangerous occurrences, and industrial diseases.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Arrange and maintain Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for raw materials and finished goods.

Qualifications

Perform any other responsibilities assigned by management

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / environmental science / safety management; advanced certifications.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with atleast 5 years in leading site for EHS.
  • Excellent understanding of Safety, Health & Environment procedures, Understanding of regulatory requirements w.r.t to EHS.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Good analytical background.
