Location: Kolkata (On-site / Hybrid)

Working Hours: Aligned with the UK time zone

Language: Excellent English (verbal & written)

Compensation: Up to ₹1,00,000 per month (based on experience)

About the Role

We are a consulting-led agency helping traditional businesses transform raw data (Excel files, internal systems, APIs) into structured databases, analytics layers, and AI-powered automation systems.

We are looking for a Data & AI Automation Engineer to work closely with the founder and act as a backend execution partner across data engineering, automation, analytics, and applied AI workflows.

This is a hands-on role focused on building real systems that businesses actually use, not academic ML research. You will help design, build, and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and AI-enabled automations using modern tools and no-code/low-code platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering

• Build and maintain data pipelines from APIs, databases, Excel/CSV files, and internal tools

• Clean, transform, and structure messy, real-world business data

• Design simple but scalable data models for analytics and automation

• Work with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or equivalent

• Support data warehouses and data storage management

AI & Automation

• Build and maintain automations using no-code/low-code tools (n8n, Make, Zapier)

• Develop AI-powered workflows using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.)

• Work on document processing, text extraction, summarisation, and classification

• Build chatbot-style and internal AI assistants for business use cases

• Integrate AI outputs into databases, dashboards, and internal systems

Analytics & BI

• Prepare data for analytics and reporting use cases

• Support dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools

• Ensure consistency between source systems, warehouses, and reporting layers

Deployment & Support

• Monitor data pipelines and automation workflows

• Debug failures, handle edge cases, and optimise performance

• Maintain basic logging, monitoring, and error handling

• Document workflows, pipelines, and system logic for reuse and scaling

Requirements

• Strong SQL skills (queries, joins, transformations)

• Good working knowledge of Python for data and automation tasks

• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar)

• Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines or backend data engineering

• Basic understanding of APIs, webhooks, and system integrations

• Experience using no-code/low-code automation tools (n8n, Make, Zapier, etc.)

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of backend systems

Experience

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in data engineering, automation, or software roles

• Strong candidates with 2+ years of hands-on experience may also be considered

• Prior experience in consulting, agencies, or product-driven teams is a plus

Nice to Have

• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure, basic level)

• Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau

• Experience translating business problems into technical solutions

• Strong documentation and communication habits
