The Asia Group (“TAG”) is now accepting applications for an experienced and organized Contracts Manager to join our Global Center of Excellence in Gurgaon (“TAG GCE”). Reporting to TAG GCE’s General Manager and working in close coordination with TAG’s DC based Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, the Contracts Manager will serve as the firm’s lead for contract lifecycle management as well as assist TAG’s legal team with commercial contract review.  The primary emphasis of this role is on contract lifecycle management, and this position will be responsible for building, maintaining, and overseeing contracting processes and systems in close coordination with TAG’s legal department, sales partners, and client servicing teams. The position will also draft and review commercial agreements. The goal of this position is to enable TAG to contract efficiently and at scale. 

This position is offered as a full-time position on site in Gurgaon and requires working shift hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time. Candidates must be available and responsive during core overlap hours of 9:00 AM–12:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time each business day (evening hours in India). Additional working hours will be scheduled to meet business needs, with occasional flexibility for urgent priorities.

TAG GCE staff work closely with TAG’s HQ, regional management, and global client servicing teams to support existing operational and client servicing initiatives as well as to identify and build new capabilities.  

Job Requirements

The Contracts Manager will play a pivotal role at TAG: professionalizing, scaling, and running TAG’s end-to-end contracting lifecycle while also helping to draft and review the firm’s commercial contracts. 

This person will act as a central point of coordination between internal stakeholders (legal, sales, finance, client teams, and operations) and external counterparties. This role will be critical to ensuring contracts move efficiently while protecting TAG’s legal and commercial interests. They will oversee and implement TAG’s contracting SOPs.

Working in close coordination with and under the supervision of the DC-based legal team, this person will also be responsible for drafting and reviewing a broad range of commercial agreements. This person will assist in developing and maintaining TAG’s contract templates and playbooks, helping to identify legal and commercial risks and propose pragmatic solutions.

Job requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in contract management, legal operations, commercial contracting, procurement contracting, or related roles (professional services experience strongly preferred).
  • Law degree required. Enrolment with the Bar Council of India or equivalent bar admission is a plus, candidates with strong commercial legal experience in lieu of formal admission will be considered. 
  • Substantive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, including client service agreements, vendor/procurement contracts, and NDAs. 
  • Strong legal judgment and ability to identify and clearly communicate commercial and legal risk, with a practical, business-informed approach to issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated track record of building relationships with contracting and legal teams at large multinational corporations to accelerate the contracting process and manage legal risk.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of personalities with fluid reporting lines.
  • Start-up mentality and desire to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Familiarity with contracting concepts and structures. Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent matters under tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft applications (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort using systems/tools to track workflows and performance.
  • Experience with CLM tools and contract repositories (Salesforce considered a plus).
  • Familiarity with contract governance best practices, approval matrices, and KPI-driven process      improvement.
  • Undergraduate degree in law, business, finance, or a related field, advanced degree/certification in contract management is a plus.
  • Experience working across global teams and time zones, supporting a high-growth environment.

Job Responsibilities

Contract Lifecyle Management: 
  • Contract Intake: Serve as the operational owner of TAG’s contracting intake process, ensuring contracting requests are captured consistently, contain required information, and are routed to the right reviewers and approvers. 
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: In close coordination with the TAG’s Legal team, manage the full contracting lifecycle across client and vendor agreements, facilitating internal review, tracking negotiation/redlines, ensuring approvals, and driving contracts through signature and execution. Proactively manage key dates, renewal windows, and obligations.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the connective tissue between client teams, Legal, Sales,      Finance/Accounting, and Operations to clarify requirements, reduce bottlenecks, and keep stakeholders aligned on responsibilities, timelines and risk posture.
  • Stakeholder Management & Client/Counterparty Communications: Drive professional, timely      communications with external counterparties as needed to progress review, resolve open issues, and coordinate signature logistics. 
  • Process Governance, SOPs & Enablement: Assist with the maintenance and improvement of TAG’s contracting  SOPs and workflows; develop job aids, checklists, and playbooks to standardize best practices; and support internal training so teams understand required inputs, expected timelines, and escalation paths.
  • Contract Repository & Data Quality: Own the integrity of TAG’s contract repository, ensuring executed agreements, amendments, and key correspondence are stored and easily searchable maintain version control and support audit readiness and record-keeping.
  • Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Track and report contract process performance (e.g., cycle time, approval turnaround, renewal/obligation tracking, dispute frequency, repository completeness). Use data to recommend and implement improvements, including automation opportunities and clearer governance.
  • Special Projects: Support firm leadership on contracting-related initiatives such as policy updates, contract      governance improvements, CLM tooling enhancements, and scaling efforts tied to TAG’s growth.

Commercial Legal Work: 
  • Agreement Drafting & Review: Draft, review, and redline a broad range of commercial agreements, including client agreements, ensuring alignment with TAG's legal standards, risk tolerance, and business objectives. 
  • Commercial Negotiation: Assist in the negotiation of contract terms with client counterparties. 
  • Legal Risk Identification & Issue-Spotting: Proactively identify legal, commercial, and reputational risks in agreements; flag issues clearly to the legal team and business stakeholders; and propose practical, business-informed solutions. 
  • Template & Playbook Development: Under supervision of the legal team, develop and maintain TAG's standard form agreements and negotiation playbooks, including fallback positions and escalation guidance, to support consistent, efficient contracting across the firm. 
  • Legal Coordination: Work closely with and under the direction of General Counsel, keeping them informed of active matters, open issues, and escalation needs.
