Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

The Marketing & Communications department drives GBH’s brand visibility, audience engagement, and strategic communications across all platforms. We work collaboratively across content, development, and external partnerships to grow awareness and support for GBH’s mission and programs.

Job Overview

GBH is seeking a talented content creator and brand ambassador to serve as the face of our programming across digital platforms. In this role, you will be approaching content creation on GBH’s social media and YouTube accounts with a marketing mindset - developing original video as well as repeatable digital series that showcase the breadth of our programming; acting as the conduit for audiences to engage with our community, share our impact; and work with other GBH employees to empower them to tell their stories through video.

Inspired by the shift toward “professional relatability,” you will produce high-engagement video content that prioritizes authenticity. This role is ideal for a creative storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced media environment and is passionate about public media.

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in storytelling, content creation with a marketing background, video storytelling with strong composition, timing and presentation. The candidate must be comfortable and willing to be on-camera, be able to translate linear broadcast content to social platforms, and work closely and collaboratively with talent.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong voice, deep understanding of social trends, and a passion for engaging audiences.

This will be a hybrid role, although candidates must be able to easily come into GBH’s studios in Boston for meetings and the surrounding areas for shoots.

Responsibilities

  • Humanize the brand: Act as an on-camera personality, creating a consistent “voice” that followers can identify with and trust. Represent GBH at events, on-camera or in public facing content as needed.
  • Content production: Script, shoot and edit videos, publishing at least 2 videos a week. Develop and execute content strategies that drive engagement, reach and brand awareness. Work closely with marketing, sponsored content and digital content teams to align messaging and campaigns.
  • Employee creator cohort: Build a cohort of other employee creators to produce content and to become recognizable faces for GBH programming and initiatives
  • Cultural agility: Monitor social trends in real-time to remix familiar formats and memes into brand-specific content that supports our mission.
  • Organizational impact: Collaborate with GBH teams to amplify campaigns and content from across the organization, including national productions, news, music/arts, education and archives.
  • Sponsored content: Produce video for sponsored content opportunities as necessary


Skillset

  • A passion for visual storytelling
  • Strong camera skills and lighting savvy
  • Strong on-camera presence
  • Proficiency in short-form video production (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, etc)
  • Mastery in mobile editing tools (CapCut, InShot, etc) as well as professional editing software (Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Understanding of trends/best practices for social video platforms with the ability to develop new creative ideas and approaches regularly
  • Experience with live streaming production such as on IG or TikTok Live
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • A collaborative spirit with the confidence to lead a concept or run a solo shoot
  • A portfolio that proves you can do the job – and push it further.


EXPERIENCE And EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience creating content for a personal brand or a forward-thinking corporate social account.
  • A portfolio or “creator handle” showcasing your ability to engage an audience through video.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment
  • Ability to work various shifts and times, including evening and special events as needed
  • Marketing experience

Salary Range

$66,000 - $84,000

Compensation offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and internal pay equity.
