About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Systems Business Analyst to join our dynamic team at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals. This pivotal role involves the assessment, design, development, and implementation of system-wide clinical information systems. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between clinical staff, technical teams, and project management, ensuring that system solutions align with clinical workflows and organizational goals. You will gather, analyze, and translate complex clinical and business requirements into effective technical specifications, supporting the enhancement of healthcare delivery through innovative technology solutions. Your expertise will contribute to optimizing clinical operations, improving data accuracy, and facilitating seamless communication across departments.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or advanced clinical degree from an accredited college or university, or
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least one (1) year of experience in gathering and documenting business, clinical, or functional requirements for healthcare or related software applications, or in a relevant clinical or healthcare administration role, or
  • A satisfactory combination of education, training, and professional experience in related fields.
  • Specialty certifications issued by recognized national programs, professional societies, or academic institutions in relevant areas may be credited towards the required experience on a month-to-month basis, up to one (1) year.
  • Injury Severity Scoring (AIS) certification is required.

Preferred candidates will possess trauma experience from a Level 1 or Level 2 verified Trauma Center, trauma database or coding experience (such as NTRACS, Trauma One, Lancet, ESO), and trauma registry course completion. An active RN license and BLS certification are also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and document clinical and business requirements by engaging with end users, stakeholders, and project sponsors to understand their needs and workflows.
  • Develop comprehensive requirements documentation, including business, functional, and technical specifications, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Translate gathered information into detailed data sources, interface components, navigation needs, reporting requirements, and administrative system specifications.
  • Define external interfaces, constraints, quality issues, and non-functional requirements to ensure system robustness and compliance.
  • Collaborate with project managers to identify potential risks, concerns, and ambiguities, assisting in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings, workgroups, and workshops to gather input, communicate progress, and ensure stakeholder engagement.
  • Coordinate with software development teams to ensure all technical requirements are incorporated and adhered to, maintaining quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Manage change control processes by documenting modifications to baseline requirements, and prepare test plans, release notes, training materials, and user guidelines.
  • Support system testing, including coordinating unit acceptance testing and overseeing deployment activities to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Provide end-user support, troubleshooting application issues, and delivering training to enhance user proficiency and system adoption.
  • Develop and deliver project presentations to communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives aimed at improving clinical systems and workflows.
  • Mentor and evaluate junior clinical business analysts and other team members, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to departmental training initiatives, ensuring staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to utilize clinical systems effectively.
  • Conduct interviews with junior team members to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
