Assistant Professor of Economics

Job Summary

The Assistant Professor in Economics will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducting research activities, mentoring students, and contributing to academic development and institutional activities. The candidate should possess strong subject knowledge in Economics along with effective teaching and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Responsibilities

• Teach subjects related to Economics at UG/PG level.
• Prepare lesson plans, course files, study materials, presentations, and assessment tools.
• Conduct lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions as per curriculum requirements.
• Evaluate assignments, projects, presentations, and examination papers.
• Maintain attendance, academic records, and internal assessment documentation.

Research & Development

• Conduct quality research in the field of Economics.
• Publish research papers in reputed journals.
• Participate in conferences, seminars, FDPs, workshops, and academic activities.
• Apply for research grants, consultancy projects, and collaborative academic initiatives.

Student Development

• Mentor and guide students for academic and career development.
• Support students in research projects, internships, and competitions.
• Encourage participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Assist in accreditation, ranking, and university compliance work.
• Participate in admission activities, examination duties, and departmental coordination.
• Support institutional events, committees, and academic planning.

Qualification & Eligibility

• Master’s Degree in Economics with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university.
• NET / SET / Ph.D. qualification preferred as per UGC norms.
• Strong academic background and research orientation preferred.

Required Skills

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, International Economics, and Public Economics.
• Good analytical and research skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, statistical tools, and online teaching platforms.
• Ability to engage and motivate students effectively.

Experience

• Freshers with strong academic background may apply.
• Prior teaching or research experience will be an added advantage.
