Job Description
Senior Architect with strong expertise in data centre feasibility and master planning, and secondary exposure to logistics parks. The role is upstream-focused — land evaluation, feasibility studies, development programming, and concept design — to support investment decisions and project initiation.
Education
B.Arch / M.Arch
Experience
- 8–12 years in architectural design and design management
- Strong experience in data centre planning and design
- Exposure to logistics / industrial / warehousing projects preferred
Key Responsibilities
A. Feasibility & Master Planning
- Conduct site visits to evaluate land parcels for data centre suitability (topography, access, utilities, land use) and prepare feasibility studies with risk assessments.
- Drive master planning and concept design for data centres: campus layouts, server halls, support facilities, utility corridors, and security zones.
- Support feasibility and design inputs for logistics park projects on a secondary basis.
- Develop area programs, development guidelines, and technical specifications for new projects.
- Provide architectural inputs for business cases and investment evaluations.
B. Codes & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations: fire, safety, electrical, and environmental norms.
- Maintain working knowledge of key DC standards (TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier classifications).
- Working knowledge of logistics/industrial codes where involved.
C. Space Planning
- Develop optimised layouts for data centres: white space, power and cooling zones, NOC/SOC, and support areas.
- Contribute to logistics space planning (warehouse modules, dock planning, circulation) where applicable.
D. Technical Inputs & Design Governance
- Review Design Basis Reports (DBRs) and development briefs to establish design parameters at project initiation.
- Provide design inputs through concept and schematic stages; hand off to execution teams with clear documentation.
- Review designs from external architects or D&B contractors at key milestones and provide structured feedback.
- Assess designs for constructability, scalability, sustainability, and safety at feasibility and concept stages.
- Support execution teams with design clarifications as needed.
E. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with structural, MEP, LV/ICT, and fire consultants, as well as development and investment teams.
- Engage clients and investors to understand requirements and communicate design intent.
- Present feasibility proposals and design strategies to senior stakeholders.
F. Innovation
- Track trends in data centre design: hyperscale, co-location, modular DCs, PUE optimisation, and sustainability.
- Stay informed on logistics design trends to support secondary involvement.
Key Behavioural Capabilities
- Strong communication skills — verbal and written.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit / BIM familiarity preferred.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and solution-driven.
- Able to manage multiple projects under tight timelines.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
