Job Description

Physicians’ Primary Care of Southwest Florida is a premier physician owned and managed primary care practice with locations in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Estero, and Lehigh Acres. We are currently seeking an Team Lead Appointment Scheduler for our Adult Medicine Division in Cape Coral. The schedule for this position is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

General Summary Of Duties

Provide leadership, oversee and coordinate the work of the appointment schedulers.

Supervision Received

Reports directly to the Front Office Coordinator.

Supervision Exercised

Exercises supervision over assigned appointment schedulers.

Typical Physical Demands

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.

Typical Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical environment.

  • Provide excellent customer service (friendly, courteous and helpful) to both our internal and external customers
  • Oversees and directs functions of appointment scheduling.
  • Responsible for monitoring daily phone reports.
  • Delegates responsibilities for clerical work activities and functions.
  • Assists staff in understanding/implementing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Helps develop guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness, and modifying activities as necessary.
  • Helps staff establish deadlines for work assignment and completion. Monitors work status and progress.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves work problems.
  • Ensures that requests for information are handled promptly and effectively.
  • Works with other staff to ensure efforts are coordinated and high quality patient care is provided.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of medical charging, billing and registration policies and procedures. Knowledge of insurance billing procedures. Knowledge of departments and operational relationships. Skill in defining problems, collecting data, interpreting billing information. Skill in computer applications. Ability to perform mathematical computations and compute ratios and percentages. Ability to work pleasantly and effectively with patients and co-workers. Ability to communicate clearly.

Education

High School diploma or GED.

Prefer Associate Arts Degree from accredited college.

Experience

Two years of experience in physician office operations.

None.
