Job Title: V&V Engineer

Job Description

The V&V Engineer plays a key role in verifying and validating automotive embedded systems against detailed specifications. This position focuses on analyzing system and functional requirements, developing and automating test cases, supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, and ensuring issues are tracked and resolved. The role requires strong domain knowledge in automotive systems, communication protocols, and functional safety standards, with a particular emphasis on ADAS and embedded system concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system and functional requirements defined in technical specifications and clarify any questions or ambiguities with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive test cases based on the requirements outlined in the specifications to ensure full coverage of system behavior.
  • Automate developed test cases using test libraries in CAPL and Python to improve efficiency and repeatability of validation activities.
  • Support component-level HIL testing by preparing test setups, executing test cases, and reviewing test results.
  • Identify, document, and raise failures and defects in Jira, providing clear descriptions, logs, and evidence to support root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with the team to support retesting of issues in Jira until they are fully resolved and verified.
  • Participate in weekly review meetings to discuss test progress, defects, risks, and improvements to validation processes.
  • Support other project process activities related to verification, validation, and quality assurance as needed.
  • Apply knowledge of low-level embedded systems, validation protocols, and automotive communication protocols to design and execute effective tests.
  • Contribute to the validation of ADAS features, ensuring compliance with functional safety and communication standards.
  • Ensure that test activities align with relevant functional safety standards and domain-specific guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • Strong expertise in embedded system concepts and low-level embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with validation protocols and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing.
  • Proficiency in CAPL scripting for test automation and CAN-based testing.
  • Proficiency in Python for automating test cases and processing test data.
  • Solid understanding of automotive industry practices and development processes.
  • Knowledge of CAN protocol and related automotive communication standards.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet-based communication, including SOMEIP.
  • Knowledge of LIN communication protocol.
  • Practical experience with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) validation and testing.
  • Knowledge of UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) and diagnostic communication.
  • Knowledge of XCP (Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol).
  • Understanding of functional safety concepts and standards, including ISO 26262.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14229 (UDS on CAN) and related diagnostic standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Automotive domain experience with a focus on embedded systems and communication protocols.
  • Ability to interpret and work from detailed technical specifications and requirements documents.
  • Experience using Jira or similar tools for defect tracking and issue management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, investigate, and resolve test failures.
  • Effective communication skills to participate in review meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a structured approach to test case development and documentation.

Work Environment

The role is based in an automotive engineering environment focused on embedded systems and ADAS technologies. The V&V Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and test engineers, and spends significant time with HIL test benches, diagnostic tools, and communication analyzers. Daily work involves using tools and technologies such as CAPL, Python, CAN, LIN, Ethernet/SOMEIP, UDS, XCP, and Jira, as well as reviewing technical specifications and standards like ISO 26262 and ISO 14229. The position typically follows standard office and lab hours, with periodic review meetings and collaborative sessions to discuss test progress and issues. The environment combines office-based analysis and documentation with hands-on lab work around HIL setups and automotive electronic components.
