Job Description

The Transmission Line Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all construction, erection, testing, and commissioning activities of the transmission line project are executed in strict compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client quality requirements. This role ensures that the materials, workmanship, and processes used throughout the project meet the highest levels of quality, reliability, and durability, thereby safeguarding the long-term performance of the transmission infrastructure.

The incumbent acts as the primary custodian of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) across all project phases — from site survey, foundation works, tower fabrication and erection, conductor stringing, to final energization and handover. This includes verifying material conformity, monitoring subcontractor performance, implementing inspection plans, and ensuring adherence to standards such as IEC, IS, ASTM, and client-specific guidelines.

A key aspect of the role is proactive quality planning and risk mitigation, including developing inspection and test plans (ITPs), conducting pre-inspection checks, and performing regular audits to identify and correct potential non-conformities before they affect project deliverables. The Quality Engineer works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure that corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively and promptly.

The role also involves documentation, reporting, and certification, maintaining a comprehensive record of inspections, tests, approvals, and deviations. By ensuring consistent quality standards and driving continuous improvement initiatives, the Transmission Line Quality Engineer plays a critical role in achieving project milestones on time, within specification, and with minimal defects, thereby contributing directly to project reliability, client satisfaction, and long-term operational success.
