Technical Project Manager – AWS Application Modernization

📍 Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (On-site / Hybrid)

📅 Employment Type: 6-Month Contract

We're looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead a mission-critical AWS Application Modernization program for a large enterprise environment.

This role is ideal for someone who has successfully delivered complex cloud transformation projects and understands both project governance and modern cloud architecture. You'll work closely with cloud architects, application teams, infrastructure engineers, and executive stakeholders to modernize legacy applications into scalable AWS-native solutions within a fast-paced six-month delivery timeline.

• Drive the end-to-end delivery of AWS application modernization projects.
• Define migration waves based on application dependencies, business priorities, and risk.
• Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
• Lead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to modernize legacy applications using AWS services.
• Support modernization approaches including refactoring, re-platforming, containerization, and microservices adoption.
• Coordinate deployments involving Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, and AWS Aurora.

• Own RAID management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify, prioritize, and resolve cross-functional technical dependencies.
• Proactively manage scope, risks, and critical path activities to ensure successful project delivery.

• Coordinate Integration Testing, Security Testing, Performance Testing, and UAT.
• Develop production deployment, cutover, and rollback strategies.
• Ensure operational readiness through documentation, knowledge transfer, and support handover.

• Provide regular status updates to senior leadership and steering committees.
• Translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
• Build strong relationships across business, infrastructure, security, and engineering teams.

• 5–7+ years of Project Management experience in enterprise IT environments.
• Minimum 3 years leading AWS Cloud Migration or Application Modernization projects.
• Proven track record delivering complex cloud transformation initiatives from planning through production deployment.

You don't need to be hands-on, but you should have a strong understanding of:

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
• Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced enterprise environments.

• PMP or PRINCE2
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or PMI-ACP
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or above

This position is open only to candidates who already have legal authorization to work in Malaysia.
