Technical Designer

Role Description The Technical Designer role at Josmo Studio is a full-time, on-site position based in Bardez. The Technical Designer will translate design concepts into detailed technical specifications and construction-ready documentation for furniture and spatial solutions. Daily tasks include preparing technical drawings, refining prototypes based on fittings and feedback, coordinating with design and production teams, and ensuring designs are feasible for manufacturing and installation. The role involves reviewing materials and construction methods, collaborating with artisans to maintain quality standards, and resolving technical challenges during production and on-site execution. The Technical Designer will also support continuous improvement in design workflows and help maintain consistency across projects.

Qualifications

• Strong technical design skills, including the ability to create precise drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
• Experience with construction and fitting processes, ensuring designs translate effectively into finished products.
• Proficiency in pattern making or structural detailing relevant to furniture and spatial design.
• Background or knowledge in architecture or interior/space design to understand layouts, ergonomics, and functionality.
• Proficiency in CAD and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solidworks, Fusion 60, or similar tools).
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and comfort working closely with artisans and production teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interpret and refine design briefs.
• Diploma or degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Experience in luxury or handcrafted furniture, or a strong interest in artisanal and sustainable design, is an advantage.
