Actively Reviewing the ApplicationsNationBuilding
Job Description
About the Organisation
The organisation enables young Indians to pursue high-impact, purpose-driven careers in nation-building. It believes in the power of youth to drive collective change and provides young professionals with the platform to create societal impact. NationBuilding drives interventions to address the most pressing challenges affecting India across priority themes, with sports and health among its focus areas.
For policy to work, it must be based on solid evidence. Our team turns complex data into clear information that helps guide government decisions, track development, and see how India compares to the rest of the world. We build tools to monitor everything from sports performance to economic growth and social welfare.
About the role
You will join the Governance and Policy team as a Statistical Analysis Expert, contributing to multiple projects that support the organisation’s research and policy work. The role involves managing the full data lifecycle, from identifying suitable datasets to data warehousing and archiving. You will ensure data quality and develop dashboards and visualisations that translate complex analysis into clear insights for decision-making. The role also involves coordinating data processes, maintaining analytical infrastructure, and supporting team members to ensure rigorous and timely delivery of analytical outputs across projects.
● Quantitative Analysis, Statistical Modelling, and Predictive Analytics
Your role will involve analysing large datasets and applying statistical and machine learning techniques to identify patterns, develop predictive models, and estimate probabilities. You will work with performance metrics, benchmarking indicators, and analytical frameworks to evaluate outcomes and generate evidence-based insights. The role will also require tracking developments in predictive analytics, statistical modelling, and data science, and identifying new methodologies that can strengthen the organisation’s research and data systems.
● Data Preparation, Validation, and Quality Assurance
You will be responsible for processing raw datasets into standardised, analysis-ready formats through systematic data cleaning, harmonisation, and transformation. You will also be responsible for implementing data validation procedures, cross-verification methods, and quality control mechanisms to ensure reliability, consistency, and accuracy across datasets.
● Data Visualisation, Dashboards, and Digital Data Platforms
You will develop clear visualisations and interactive dashboards to communicate complex analytical outputs, using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Python visualisation libraries, R, and Excel. You will also work on integrating datasets with digital platforms and dashboards, ensuring regular updates, stable system performance, and reliable display of indicators and analytical outputs.
● Economic and Socio-Economic Data Analysis
The role will require familiarity with macroeconomic and socio-economic indicators, including their definitions, statistical interpretation, and credible data sources. You will work with multi-year and cross-regional datasets, interpreting them within the context of policy research, economic analysis, and institutional outputs.
● Data Handling, Analytical Tools, and Database Familiarity
The role will involve working with datasets for analysis, modelling, and reporting using analytical tools such as MS Excel / Google Sheets and R. The candidate should be comfortable managing and analysing structured datasets, including cleaning, organising, and updating data from multiple sources. Familiarity with handling large datasets and working with structured data systems will be useful. Experience with SQL and basic database concepts is desirable, particularly for querying and retrieving data from organised data repositories used in analytical platforms and dashboards.
● Research Documentation, Collaboration, and Knowledge Management
The role will involve maintaining clear documentation of datasets, methodologies, and update protocols to ensure transparency and reproducibility. You will also work closely with research teams to refine analytical frameworks, contribute to policy research outputs, and support effective knowledge management within the organisation.
● Team Leadership and Capacity Building
The role will also involve mentoring and supporting team members, particularly those from non-technical backgrounds. You will be expected to translate complex statistical and data concepts into clear and accessible insights, enabling cross-functional teams to engage confidently with data-driven analysis and analytical outputs.
This role is well-suited for an early/mid-career professional seeking to work at the intersection of public policy, data science, and governance in India. It is ideal for individuals motivated to contribute to national development to reshape how data is understood, addressed, and governed.

● Direct exposure to government decision-making processes, including engagement with senior policymakers, administrators, and institutional stakeholders
● Hands-on involvement across the full policy lifecycle from evidence generation and problem framing to consultation, advocacy, and implementation support
● Opportunity to contribute to high-impact initiatives with potential for real-world policy adoption
Eligibility criteria
● 5-8 years of relevant work experience in statistics, data science, or a similar field
● Graduation or post-graduation with adequate academic exposure to statistical and quantitative subjects. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed specialised coursework in fields such as Statistics, Applied Statistics, Data Science, Econometrics, or other data-driven quantitative disciplines.
● Demonstrated experience in developing and applying statistical and data analysis methods on large datasets to generate innovative, practical insights and solutions.
● Proven experience in team leadership and management, with the ability to lead technical projects and mentor others
● Experience with predictive modelling and analysing trends over long periods of time
● Expert skills in Python/R, and experience using SQL to manage databases
● Experience building and maintaining dashboards in tools like Tableau or Power BI
● Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills to identify challenges and ideate solutions within structured frameworks
