This position is based at L&Ts Head Office within the Corporate Exim department at Powai, Mumbai.


Job Role: Sr. Team Member – Customs, FTP – Licensing & EXIM Compliance

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (Engineering or MBA preferred).

Additional certifications in Supply Chain, EXIM, or International Trade are a plus.


Experience

10-15 years of progressive experience in EXIM, Customs operations, and DGFT licensing.

Strong preference for candidates with a background in EPC or Engineering industries.


Technical Competencies

Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of Indian Customs Act, HS Classification, Rules of Origin, FTA applications, and FTP 2023.


Scheme Knowledge: Hands-on expertise in AA/EPCG lifecycle, Duty Drawback, TED Refund, SVB (Related Party Transactions), SEZ, FTWZ, EOU, and MOOWR.


Banking & FEMA: Exposure to FEMA regulations, RBI guidelines, and EDPMS/IDPMS compliance.


Systems Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of SAP/ERP. Familiarity with digital trade platforms is highly desirable.


Job Responsibilities

Customs Operations & Duty Optimization

Operational Leadership: Oversee end-to-end import/export clearances, ensuring strict adherence to HS classification, Valuation, and Rules of Origin to minimize disputes and SCNs.

Cost Optimization: Identify and execute duty-saving opportunities through FTA benefits and exemption schemes (AA, EPCG, DTA, SEZ, EOU, MOOWR).

Vendor Management: Lead CHA operations, managing daily coordination, rate contracts, deferred duty management, and reconciliation.

Process Improvement: Drive the standardization of Project Import processes (including Bond/BG closures) and reduce demurrage/detention costs through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and preventive controls.


DGFT & Licensing Lifecycle Management

License Management: Manage the complete lifecycle of Advance Authorization (AA) and EPCG licenses—from pre-application norms validation to timely EODC closures and bond management.

Export Controls: Govern SCOMET and Restricted Item licensing, ensuring pre/post-export condition adherence and strict compliance with export controls.

Data Integrity: Maintain a centralized digital repository of master data and document validity using our internal platforms.


Incentives & Export Benefits Realization

Benefit Maximization: Maximize RoDTEP realization through accurate data management and audit-proof documentation.

Financial Alignment: Collaborate with F&A for export proceeds realization & AA/EPCG benefit utilization.


Compliance, Governance & Audit Readiness

Regulatory Maintenance: Maintain the EXIM Import Compendium (HSN database, notifications) and ensure valid status for IEC, AEO Tier, and Status Holder certifications.

Audit Management: Lead the closure of internal and external audit observations. Standardize SOPs for deemed export benefits.

Litigation Management: Maintain a repository of SCNs, demand notices, and judicial cases to ensure quick reference and resolution.


Digitalization & Analytics

Digital Transformation: Lead the conversion of manual EXIM processes to digital workflows for license tracking, EO monitoring, and RoDTEP computation.

Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize analytics for real-time alerts, SLA adherence monitoring, and ageing analysis to enhance decision-making.


Stakeholder Relationship & Capability Building

External Stakeholders: Interface with Customs, DGFT, CHA partners, and statutory agencies.

Internal Collaboration: Partner with SCM, F&A, Business Units, and Project Teams to ensure seamless operations.

Team Leadership: Mentor and upskill the team in Customs areas, FTP provisions, and trade facilitation programs.
