Software Engineer

We’re a YC-backed AI company building software that automates complex document-heavy workflows for large enterprise customers.

We’re hiring a full-time remote Software Engineer to work across backend systems, AI workflows, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing technical problems. This is a high-ownership role for a strong engineer who can communicate clearly with customers and internal teams, understand messy real-world issues, debug production problems, and turn customer-reported needs into reliable, durable technical solutions.

What you’ll do

• Build and maintain production backend systems in Python
• Develop APIs, internal tools, workflow automation systems, and AI-enabled product features
• Debug production issues across application logic, data pipelines, cloud services, APIs, and integrations
• Improve system reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability
• Work with customer-facing issues: understand the underlying problem behind specific customer requests, reproduce issues, and build durable product or engineering fixes
• Collaborate closely with a small engineering team and take ownership of implementation from problem definition to deployment

What we’re looking for

• Strong proficiency in Python
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals
• Experience building and shipping production software
• Experience working with AWS and/or GCP
• Ability to debug complex technical issues independently
• Ability to reason through customer-reported problems and identify underlying root causes
• Experience designing clean APIs, services, data flows, and system abstractions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high ownership, reliability, and attention to detail
• Clear communication and ability to document and explain technical decisions
• Familiarity with atleast one of Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, or Codex for day-to-day use

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript
• Experience with LLMs, VLMs, RAG, document processing, OCR, structured extraction, or agentic workflows
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, queues, background jobs, serverless systems, containers, or distributed systems
• Experience with observability, logging, monitoring, and production debugging
• Experience building enterprise SaaS products or internal tools used by operational teams

Compensation: 20K-35K USD/yr (depending on experience and fit)

Commitment: 40hrs/week
