Role Description The Social Worker will be responsible for supporting children, teachers, and school communities to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. Day-to-day tasks include conducting individual and group sessions with students, identifying and addressing social, emotional, or behavioral concerns, and coordinating with teachers and school leadership to plan appropriate interventions. The role involves engaging with families and local communities, facilitating awareness sessions, and linking children and families to relevant support services when needed. The Social Worker will also document cases, maintain records, prepare reports, and contribute to program planning and implementation in line with SMF’s mission. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Ashti.
Qualifications

  • Strong counseling, casework, and psychosocial support skills, with the ability to work sensitively with children and families.
  • Experience in school-based or child-focused social work, including collaboration with teachers, school leaders, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to conduct assessments, maintain accurate documentation, and prepare clear, structured reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and facilitate group sessions and workshops.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of child protection principles, inclusive education, and basic safeguarding protocols.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Ashti, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to diverse school environments.
  • Prior experience in the not-for-profit or education sector, and proficiency in local languages, is an advantage.
